A Manageress in Desperate Need of Training
The restoration of this old building is absolutely wonderful. But unfortunately the cafe side of the eating area, where we sat, is soulless.
Ordered a hot chocolate and a latte. Latte was just like drinking strong instant coffee with ordinary milk. No froth at all.
The table was very wobbly, therefore the drinks spilled everywhere. The waitress brought a cloth to wipe the spillage but did not wipe underneath the coffee glass. I asked for some serviettes to be brought to the table. My son had to stabilize the table by pushing some wood pieces under the feet of the table.
We also ordered two tomato soups, pizza and halloumi fries.
After a very lengthy wait the soups arrived but no spoons with which to eat it with. Had to ask for them as well as pepper and salt. Then upon first mouthful of soup it was luke warm. At that point I asked the waitress to take my soup away, I have had enough. But they re-heated the other soup and brought it back to the table for my daughter in-law.
Below is the reaction of the Manageress to my polite complaint.
She can not screw down the metal table leg to the stone floor. They are too busy and short of staff. They put the food thermometer in the soup and apparently it was the right temperature. Her face expressions and body language was rather aggressive and at no point did she apologise. I said to her, all you needed to say, I am so sorry sir, we will do our best next time you come and visit us…...But unfortunately she wasn’t even bright enough to understand or willing to listen to what I said

Read moreDisappointing experience - Lovely venue and great waiting staff but overall, I was disappointed with my meal. I'll preface this by saying that there was a wedding on that day too, and we were forewarned about this on entry.
We'd preordered food for our reservation at 2pm but it didn't get served to us at the table until just after 3pm (I know - wedding - but the place wasn't that busy otherwise and we gave notice!)
When my food arrived, I had to pull up the menu on my phone because it looked like it was lacking something (I'd gotten the chicken basket, which should have included 2 types of chicken but only had 1 - it was essentially £9 for chicken nuggets and chips) - I didn't get a chance to complain to any waiting staff because they were off their feet and when they dropped a plate of food off for my friends, they immediately turned around and went back to the kitchen - I didn't have a chance to call them over and ask.
I thought that I would then get 2 desserts at the end of the meal as I felt like my main wasn't filling enough, so ordered a scone with cream and jam, and a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. When the scone arrived, I was surprised to see that it came with a kind of airy cream (whipped? squirty?) instead of clotted - and in the heat of the restaurant (it was December!) the cream just immediately melted and didn't stay on the scones. The sticky toffee pudding was okay but I felt like the sponge was too tough, although still enjoyable.
The friends that I was with, loved the food and experience, I think that I just got unlucky on the day with my food choices, and because there was a wedding event on around...
Read moreStaff were lovely, gyros and salt & pepper chips were very good. Scenery is beautiful. However while we were there…. the tables inside were dirty. When we ordered a drink and mentioned we had a table booked the man behind the bar said “take your pick. (So we sat at 301 the first bench outside) What food do you want? I said I don’t know what you do and he pointed and said “menus over there”. On a shelf behind people sat at a table so my husband had to reach over people to get them. He brought them to the table and they are sticky and had hair stuck to them! I ordered jacket potato and the tuna was honestly revolting! I found it uneatable. Then after scraping the tuna off I found a hair in my food! 🤢. I decided to leave that at that point. (Check the CCTV if you wish as I have seen the owner can do this in response to other reviews, I even held the hair up to show my husband so you will see on the footage) I didn’t report it as didn’t want to cause a scene. I just continued to eat the chips. Then when finished at around 6:30pm I asked a waitress if we could order dessert and was told kitchen is closed. Just my personal view but I thought it early for closed kitchen. We got home from work at 5pm changed and arrived there at 5:30pm. Ordered at 5:45pm. Food came around 6:05pm. Then to be told no dessert as kitchen is closed. People who work can’t really have there evening meal much earlier can they? Amazing potential but lacking at present- my personal...
