Absolutely Appalling Experience
If I could give zero stars, I would. We booked a table for 14 at 6:30 pm for Mother’s Day, only to arrive and find our table wasn’t even ready. We were finally seated at 7:00 pm in an overcrowded and chaotic restaurant. From there, it only got worse.
Starters took an unbelievable two hours to arrive—three plates of garlic bread and a bruschetta that was nothing more than a dry piece of bread with chopped tomato, no oil, no seasoning. Drinks were not re-offered, and despite our water bottles being empty, staff never once checked or refilled them. We had four starving children who waited patiently, only to be repeatedly told the food would be “just 10 more minutes”—a blatant lie, as no one else in the restaurant even had food on their tables.
By the time our mains arrived at 9:00 pm (after a 2.5-hour wait), they were an absolute disgrace. One order was completely wrong—my husband ordered a fillet steak and was given a ribeye. No sides, no vegetables, just a slab of meat with a sad piece of lettuce and half a tomato. Another meal was literally a tuna steak dumped on a tin of lentils—something I’d be embarrassed to serve my dog. On top of that, the restaurant had run out of salmon, seabass, and even apple juice.
The manager? Rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. Instead of apologising, he admitted they had overbooked the restaurant and then had the audacity to tell us they wouldn’t even be bringing the rest of the meals we ordered. We left at 9:30 pm with four distressed, hungry children after three hours of waiting for food that was either inedible or never arrived.
This place clearly prioritized squeezing in as many people as possible on Mother’s Day at the expense of basic service, quality, and common decency. Disgusting food, abysmal service, and a complete waste of time and money. Avoid...
Read moreIt’s a shame to write a bad review for Cotto as it was, up until now, our favourite restaurant in Whitefield. We went to Cotto this evening as a table of 9 for an 18th birthday meal. Things started to go down hill when we were there for an hour and still no food had arrived. We had to ask 3 times when our food was coming and it finally arrived approx 1 hour 15 mins after we ordered. It then became apparent, after asking several times, that they had forgotten to order my elderly father’s pizza. After brushing us off for 10 minutes, they eventually said they would cook a pizza and we would have to wait another 10 minutes for that. My father was very upset to have to eat on his own, so we all waited and let our food get cold so he wouldn’t have to eat alone. I asked the manager if we could have the pizza removed from the bill, to which he repeatedly replied “if you want the pizza taken off the bill then I’ll tell them not to make it and you’ll have nothing”. I was genuinely shocked at how rudely I was spoken to and would have expected, at a minimum, a complimentary drink for my father for the inconvenience and the massive upset it caused on what was supposed to be a very happy occasion. Cotto had always been a special restaurant for us where we’d celebrated numerous birthdays and an engagement, but sadly we won’t be returning when the restaurant is being managed in this way. I’d like the opportunity to speak to the owner to discuss with them how their manager is speaking to customers, as it’s going to very negatively impact the reputation of...
