We were promptly welcomed at the door and given a table by the window since quite a few large parties were well into their meals in a few parts of the large restaurant and some had been and gone already. It was only about 8pm so I was quite surprised. Some options were therefore unavailable and this hadn't been a problem until two of our party wanted to order dauphinoise potatoes but couldn't because the restaurant had run out. Had we wanted to order steaks two types of those were also completely out of stock. The waiter asked us if there was an event in town as they had been extremely busy all day. We had no idea but maybe simply the nice weather, possibly the last warm weather of summer, may have inspired people to come out more. I ordered a cheese souffle and fish parmentier with a side order of french beans. All of the items I ate were delicious as was the merlot wine we had with it. My fellow diners also enjoyed their food. We were served well for the most part and were the last but two party to leave. Atmosphere was quite good, better when it was busier but by the end of our meal it was quite quiet.

Good customer service and your usual Cote fare. Having had a number of poor experiences at other Cote branches, I was reluctant to go to another but with a relative who has celiac disease it's a safe option for them. It's not got a prime spot looking out across the bay, but for a family dinner this wasn't an issue for us. The waiter was quiet but friendly and attentive, and happy to help. I started with the pea and olive tartlet, which was tasty, although the base was a little solid. For main, I had the vegan burger, swapping out the vegan cheese for regular cheese. The burger was delicious (and I'd definitely recommend going for the regular cheese unless you're vegan). I'd ordered truffle fries, and unfortunately was served regular fries but the Maitre d' apologised, told us to keep the french fries and brought out fresh truffle fries a minute later. The cheese board for dessert is a generous portion for the price, and everyone else enjoyed all their meals. For 9 of us, including drinks and with half the party have three courses, the rest having two, it came to 335 GBP including tip.

We went to this Cote in October 2021 and it was so busy. We were going to see the Book Of Mormon and this restaurant was close by. It seemed like everyone had the same idea as the place was packed! Everything was really good apart from the olives. The olives were quite mushy and the dark ones tasted a bit off. Other than that it was great. I had the crab maison to start and so did my girlfriend. It was very nice. For main I had the beef cheek bourguignon and my girlfriend had the mussels. Both of us were very happy with the food! They only serve bottled beer which I'm not a fan off, always prefer draught. But this restaurant is a good choice if you are going to Cardiff Bay or to see a show.

My first breakfast at Cote and unimpressed. Four of us had breakfast, I had the vegetarian, the hollandaise sauce wasn't on the plate when it arrived and had to be asked for. The Vegetarian Sausage wasn't the best. My eggs were well cooked. The food was ok but not exceptional and its quite hard to screw up toast.

All of us had sour dough toast, 3 of us had to wait (the other person had it on the side of their plate when the breakfast was served) and were half way through our breakfast before it arrived. I am not sure what their definition of toast is but it isn't mine. Not only did it appear to have been only briefly introduced to the toaster (not put in, just shown it) but it was thick, chewy and cold. The butter we got had been served straight out out of the fridge and was solid lumps, my husband put half a tomato on the top in an attempt to make it spread. If you had cut it smaller it would get softer quicker, others have been known to do this. It would have been be sensible when bringing the toast over to the table as it was for 4 to have a basked wrapped and that all of us go it at the same time. My friend would have liked beans with his "full" breakfast, but its Cote. I assume all the eggs are free range, even though they only make a point of saying some are. I have had better, the service was ok but unlike other places it wasn't full and its clear to see why and its not just price. Cote you need to up your game and you need to know that the definition of Toast is "browned by radiant heat". Sourdough makes excellent toast, suggest you start using Bertinet. Unlikely I...

Firstly to say that the reviews I have just read about Cote in the Bay are not reviews - they are trolls. Each suggest (certainly in the case of not taking too kindly to having the service charge added to the bill) a naivety about restaurant eating.

I have eaten at Cote about half a dozen times now - mostly in parties of more than 10 but last night only three - and cannot find fault with any aspect of the catering and service there. The restaurant staff are charming and accommodating in equal part with knowledgeable and efficient - nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and the steak tartare just about the best I've ever tasted certainly in the UK. I have never heard a murmur of a complaint from any of my fellow diners and many of them have returned to Cote themselves since our group visit. They report total satisfaction to me when we meet elsewhere. The restaurant itself is comfortable -the ambience conducive. You can have a conversation without the need for hearing assistance. Finally Cote does what all good French restaurants do - they leave you satisfied after all the courses have been served - making no attempt to pile on three thousand calories per course. The portions are just right for the average foodie and there is expert knowledge on hand to cover vegan, vegetarian, Coeliac and other requirements. In this day and age that has become essential and Cote is very much...

Title: A Disappointing and Potentially Dangerous Dining Experience

Tonight, my dining experience at Côte Cardiff Bay was not only disappointing but also alarming. I ordered a steak, expecting a delightful meal. Unfortunately, what was served to me was far from appetizing; the steak was spoiled. The realization that the meat was not fit for consumption was immediate, and the dish had to be sent back to the kitchen. Consuming spoiled food poses serious health risks, and I was appalled by the oversight.

Adding insult to injury, the response from the staff further soured the experience. Our waitress, while acknowledging the mistake, merely mentioned that we would not be charged for the steak, as though this gesture absolved the restaurant of serving potentially dangerous food. There was no genuine apology, nor were there any attempts to rectify the situation beyond this minimal effort. A more appropriate response would have been to offer a discount on our bill, acknowledging the severity of the mistake and valuing customer satisfaction and safety.

I urge potential customers to reconsider dining at Côte. The lack of attention to food safety and unsatisfactory customer service makes it a place to avoid. No one should have to worry about the quality of their meal or the potential health risks involved when...
