Beautiful open area with attractions in all directions. Including Cardiff Millennium Centre, Mermaid Quay, the Norwegian Church (now a Gallery), The Big Wheel, Cardiff Ferry Boats, Techniquist (closed for renovation Sept/Oct 2019) and The Wetlands. Eateries and Cafes in the side streets and Mermaid Quay. Beautiful views of Cardiff Bay. Car Parking (Pay and Display) - in Mermaid Quay Car Park (behind the Quays) and in The Red Dragon Centre a but further away. The Hop on/Hop off Bus Stop (not well signed) in the Bus Stop area near the Millennium Centre. The Railway Station and The Red Dragon Centre are both in walking distance. Toilets - I didn't spot any public loos, but they are in the eateries and public buildings.

Located in the heart of Cardiff Bay, this large public plaza is a landmark where Welsh tradition and modernity blend seamlessly. It was named in honor of Roald Dahl, with 'Plass'—the Norwegian word for 'place'—chosen to reflect his Norwegian immigrant heritage and ties to Cardiff. The area was once one of the docks that thrived as a coal port during the late 19th and much of the 20th century but has since been transformed into a modern cultural space through redevelopment. Surrounded by contemporary architecture, the plaza creates a unique atmosphere that combines Welsh heritage with a modern aesthetic.

A Fantastic day out at Cardiff Bay, parking very easy at the Quay car park and £6.50 for 4 hours seemed very reasonable. Yesterday's event was military marching bands, red devil's parachute show and firing of cannons in time with the music! A great event enjoyed by the children @ 6 & 8 years old. Lots to see and do in and around the bay area.

Looking at it now it's difficult to believe that this area was once full of water allowing ships to dock. The transformation in this part of Cardiff has been absolute and it deserves the large numbers of visitors who now flock here. Overlooked by Ivor Novello and now named after one of Cardiff's famous authors its previous name- The Oval Baisin- perhaps gives a better description of this amphitheatre-esque area as it is just a sunken open area with the impressive backdrop of the iconic Millennium Centre and striking Pierhead Building. Sci-fi fans will revognise it as home to Torchwood and can visit the nearby shrine to much loved character Ianto. Close to the railway station and main parking areas this is a useful thoroughfare on a wander around Cardiff Bay but it is frequently the focal point for popular events. From the popular Food Festival and Cardiff Beach to Oktoberfest, and the Lady Boys of Bangkok there's something for everyone here. Even if there's nothing special going on its a great place for kids to ride their bikes and hone their scooter skills or the perfect spot to stand back and breathe in that lovely Welsh air whilst admiring the spectacular...

Lovely place in Cardiff Bay, just across from The Millennium Centre & Theatre. Huge outdoor space used for all sorts of open air events. Ample indoor & outdoor seating opposite from Caffi & Bar One (part of the Millennium Centre). The other side of the Plass are the shops & restaurants of Mermaid Quay. Very modern & well looked after space with a couple of fountains at the end of it & some bus stops there too! Good location, snuggled inbetween the shops, bars & restaurants & only a short walk down to the Norweigian Church & beach. Only lost a star because we happened to visit after a main event had just finished, so there wasnt anything going on there. Had we have been on an event day, I'm sure I would have given 5 stars as it looked like a great place to enjoy fully given the...
