Fox and Goose — Restaurant in Calderdale

I came here originally for a quick pint of real ale and ended up chatting with the friendly locals and barstaff all afternoon!. The ales are rotated weekly I was informed and are drawn from the old style hand pulls. They also offer bottled ales, ciders and wines too so there is a bit of choice for everyone.

The interior is old fashioned and very comfortable with many different beer mats pinned up on the walls, old photos, a mini library and many ale related booklets and leaflets. There is a very quaint and tidy beer garden towards the back of the pub up some stairs with nice views across Hebden Bridge.

The quality of the ales were superb, Iv'e tried a lot of real ales and you really can tell that they are very well kept here. Real ale tends to be a bit hit and miss, and many drinkers who came in that afternoon were offered tasters to help them decide, something that is always nice to see in pubs.

Wonderfully cosy and friendly community co-operative pub with six rotating real ales and a couple of traditional ciders or perries, plus quality continental bottled lagers. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and regulars and a real fire in winter. Quality pork pies and vegan sausage rolls from local suppliers and cheese, pâté and biscuits on the bar Sunday evenings.
