The food I’ve had in here before has been excellent and the service at times good also . Unfortunately however , on this occasion a particular server who could have possibly been the manager ( I think an Irish woman with short blonde hair) was particularly difficult and spoilt the experience for all 4 of us . I’ve Allways known it to be a cafe where you go in sit down then order at the bar but when we went to go find a seat in the back we were ushered back to the front of the cafe again by the woman mentioned after she ignored our initial request for a table . After this she took us to the back where we had just been and I asked if we could sit in any free seat which she replied “ No you have to sit in this one “ quite rudely . When ordering I was incredibly surprised when she began to tell us that if we wanted a drink here it was necessary that we stay for a while because it was too complicated for her to organise when people leave after 20 minutes. I thought that this particularly was an appalling thing to say to a customer who is choosing to enjoy a drink in their cafe . She also began to tell us how busy it had been today and that it was ‘ just one of those days’ where things were hectic , I appreciate that it can be stressful as a server when things are busy but when paying for a service a customer shouldn’t be made to feel guilty that this is the case and certainly shouldn’t be spoken to the way we were . I’m writing this in the hopes that someone who works there will read this and that this woman’s attitude towards customers can be changed because it has put me off wanting to come into this cafe that I have really enjoyed previously and I can’t imagine that others customers in the future would be as sympathetic to her...

It’s a really lovely cafe with great decor and music. The boys who work there I think only a few days a week are great. So friendly and welcoming and can tell they actually enjoy their job. They make great frothy drinks aswell. However every time I’ve ordered food, it’s been very disappointing. I had the pumpkin soup which ,for the price, was not very flavourful or impressive. The best thing about it was the bread which I feel like shouldn’t be the main component. The girls who work there are very uninterested in their job and I feel like how the kitchen is ran all in all, it needs improvement to ensure the quality of the food is consistent throughout. I’ve ordered the lamb which although a nice cut of meat, was very basic in flavouring again and I was paying £15 for it. The apple strudle looked amazing and I was very excited to try but yet again was disappointed by the lack of depth to the flavour. I’ve given this cafe a lot of attempts to redeem itself but I’ve been disappointed every time by the lack of attention to customers, the inconsistency between service between the two young boys who are servers in comparison to all the women at the establishment. It’s a real shame because mooch has such a great vibe to it and they have such a great food and drink menu but there’s a lot of room for...

Lovely food, decor and atmosphere, friendly staff with a wide range of veggie options as well as delicious cakes.

So it should be a definite 5* review, yes? Well not quite. Three things stopped me from giving it a 5* review.

First, we arrived at 11:45AM hoping for breakfast (breakfast was advertised as being served until 12PM). We were given breakfast menus immediately once we sat down without asking for them (this was great!). We looked at them for about 30 seconds before another member of staff asked for the menus back saying they had run out of breakfast items so we could only order from the lunch menu (this was not great!). Why not give us lunch menus first, rather than let us get excited about breakfast options first?

Second is that the food delivery was very slow. So we had a long wait for our mains (admittedly staff did warn us about the wait once we'd ordered). And our puddings / cakes arrived at different times. Mine arrived about 5 minutes before my girlfriend's.

Third thing is that the coffee was quite weak. Girlfriend had to ask for an extra shot in her's but it didn't help. If you like strong coffee this place isn't for you.

So overall this is very good cafe but not a brilliant one. There are...

2nd visit to confirm... Friendly, welcoming staff. Great selection of drinks & snacks. Covid safe procedures and very dog friendly, Benson offered water before I got my tea👍👍 Update: Returned on campervan trip, excellent friendly service that I thought could be improved.... Is even better! 5⭐ Staff. Benson was offered a chopped sausage & tasty decaff coffee blend. If your in Hebden Bridge, #TeamMooch is worth the wander along the road away from tourist centre. Thanks guys.

I would give 5 stars but unfortunately, the espresso coffees were very muddy - couldn't really taste the coffee. I think the espresso machine needs a good clean. I'm sure the coffee they use would be of good quality - if it's anything like the divine apple strudel I ate... very good for a quick snack or somewhere to chill out. Excellent service. Good decor. Very clean toilets. Just such a shame about the espressos...
