Chef shows a lot of passion for her craft. I Ordered a chicken burger and she surprised me with a beef burger.

I appreciate the chef's recommendation and was taken back to my childhood as she served me with what tasted a like classic "fair ground burger".

I must also admire the front of house system. No messing about with printed menus or table numbers - just a women walking around the beer garden shouting "WHO'S HAVING FOOD!?"

The chef then started to throw a pile of broken chairs into the bush near my table, you have to respect her attention to detail.

30 minutes later the food arrived and my gosh did it not disappoint. judging by the condition of the pub garden and the toilets I knew that this food was going to be hygienic and appealing.

The chef came to the table and asked who's is this, waving a plate of fish and chips around to which my I said "that's my partners". And then she responded attentively with "WHO'S IS IT THEN."

My partner said "fish and chips is me thanks so much!" And the chef screamed "NOOO IT's HOT" despite him not even reaching for it.

Once again she must be a psychic!

After she left me and my partner touched the plates and they were at most Luke warm. I truly admire that she is looking out for customers with sensitive skin.

I would recommend coming here and eating to anyone and please do not miss out on using the toilets as they are squeaking clean.

Thanks so much the white swan for the classic pub experience. All the negative reviews are liars. best pub...

An embarrassingly bad establishment. Filthy, smelly, unfriendly, everything you don’t want in a pub. The residents of Hebden Bridge must be ashamed to share their wonderful village with this joke of a place. After eventually getting served after the (very rude) bar lady was finished ignoring me for anything else, we were told the card machine was broken. The way she barked this at me I felt as if I was somehow expected to know this already, and that me having to walk 10 minutes to get cash out was inconveniencing HER. I’ve never made to feel so unwelcome in a pub. Unluckily for us, my partner realised she had the cash and we paid for our drinks. From reading other reviews I now understand the card machine has been broken for months, might be an idea to get it sorted? Half way through my pint my partner noticed my glass was dirty on the inside and upon further inspection there were black specks floating around in the beer. Appalling. I returned my glass to aforementioned lady who in one single motion took the glass, slung the rest down the sink and put it on the side then just stared at me. I repeated that the glass was dirty and without breaking her gaze she grunted “thanks” at me. No apology, nothing. At a loss for words I just left disgusted. Luckily we went to a much friendlier and cleaner pub round the corner and didn’t let the experience sour the day. I’ve been in some dives but this was by far the worst. Our mistake for walking past the busy pubs to the quieter pub and now I know...

We arrived to have lunch with some friends and whoever wrote our order down got it wrong. This isn't a big issue on it's own and we're not the sort of people to act up if an order is wrong, but the owner got mad at us for saying they mixed up our order when my girlfriend ordered a ham and cheese toastie and they gave her a tuna and red onion one an hour and 10 minutes after we ordered her ham and cheese. When we asked them about it, they said we would be charged extra for adding it to our order even though we dif order it and they forgot to add some food to our order.

Then the ham and cheese toasties some other people ordered came as sandwiches instead which again is fine, but the waiter had a go at us as if we were purposely trying to mess them about.

When we arrived before all of this, someone had ordered a quorn meal as they were vegetarian but the waiter said they didn't have any (again, fine) but they brought them meat sausages as an alternative.

The waiter who was rude to us was an older woman who was the one who wrote down the order incorrectly, but we could heat them trying to put the blame on a younger, male waiter. What happened was not his fault though.

All in all, not the best experience. Not necessarily because of the mix up, but to the attitude of some of...

Came upon this traditional riverside pub while on a first-time visit to Hebden Bridge, and stopped here for lunch. It's located opposite the historic Old Packhorse Bridge. Homely and olde-worlde inside, with wooden beams, tiled fireplace, lots of pictures on the walls, and a collection of beer jugs and copper utensils suspended from the ceiling. There's a beer garden round the back. It was obviously very much a community pub, a lot of locals were here, busy but friendly atmosphere, and a welcoming landlady who made me feel right at home. Good choice of cask ales, beers and lagers (had half a pint of Carlsberg). The lunch menu, displayed on a board at one end of the bar, was not extensive but had a nice selection of sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes and homemade cooked meals. Ordered the scampi with chips, peas and salad. Service was a bit slow, but the meal itself was well prepared and piping hot. The salad was crisp and fresh. Generous helping of chips, and they were freshly cooked and really good! At just over £10 for the meal and drink, it was also good value for money. Would come here again.

Went to Hebden Bridge for a day out. Saw the menu and thought would try it. Should have walked out straight away. Pub looks like a bomb site. Uneven floors with wires all around. Place smelt of bleach.Sat in the beer garden and within 10mins after we ordered our cuttlery arrived then after a further 55 mins wait the food arrived. It was awful, not blaming the cooks but the management. How can you have a special of a roast pork dinner with gravy and stuffing and run out of both and also serve broccoli which is going off. The glasses were dirty the plates stained and dirty. Whoever is putting on glorious reviews must know the owners. Avoid at all cost.
