They have a very good place outside to sit and drink and talk with friends.. previously they had a very good food menu with many options and reasonable price. After the renovation they changed the menu. Get food now is much more expensive and it's quality did not upgraded as well. I really like to eat at that place in the past but unfortunately I'm not going anymore. To drink it is still very nice place with a view to the river and generally good service. I hope the management will read that and act upon it. I am sure I am not the only customer who feels that way.
update - the owner answer to me writing that it is no longer cheap freezer produce so the quality is better, hence more expensive. that is a fair point and I appreciate the fact that he wrote to me. I am currently changing the grade to 4 starts and I would update again after eating there one more time. to be fair last time I ate there was immediately after the change and it might take some time for changes in management to settle. I might have been to harsh and I would give a second chance...
Read moreMy new favourite pub in Cambridge! Alexander the barkeep was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful when we came in. Their on tap selection is fantastic, the Aspall was an amazing dry cider. The star of the show was both their incredible location right on the river Cam with beautiful riverside outdoor seating, along with incredible historical and cozy inside seating as well. It's so lovely that it inspired Tolkien to include it in the lord of the rings books.
I was similarly inspired by the wonderful service, staff, location, drinks, and food. The food is almost beating out the location for how amazing it is. I ordered the loaded fries, and dear lord have I not had such good, crispy, salty fries in such a while. It was loaded with chicken, pomegranate seeds, greens, and everything else you could ask for. It worked so well and I'm so happy I tried it, I'll definitely be back to eat it many more times!
Thanks again to Alexander and the rest of the staff for creating such a welcoming...
Read moreThe Green Dragon might catch your eye with its charming riverside location and seemingly inviting beer garden, but don't be deceived. Once you step inside, the disappointments come thick and fast.
The Guinness here is an abomination. It's flat, tasteless, and served without a proper head—nothing like the rich, creamy pint you'd expect. It’s a pale, pathetic version that does a disservice to the name.
Switch to gin, and you’ll fare no better. Expect to receive a glass of gin with no tonic, making for an unbalanced and unpleasant drink. It’s as if they’ve never heard of a basic gin and tonic.
To make matters worse, the staff are incredibly rude. From the moment you walk in, you’re met with hostility and indifference. Their lack of hospitality is almost as bad as the drinks they serve.
In short, Green Dragon is all style and no substance. A picturesque setting can't save it from its dreadful drinks and rude service. Avoid this place if you value your time, money,...
