CB4 Cafe — Restaurant in Cambridge

So I stopped here at around midday to get some food as I was on the other side of town to the Cafe I would usually use. I went in and it was extremely quiet, maybe 6 people in total sitting inside and out, I was told if I wanted breakfast items they would have to check what was left, the guy came back and said it was ok as they still had enough. I ordered a large English breakfast with a white coffee, it came to £11.50 which I thought sounded quite reasonable. After waiting about 10mins at a table outside a gentleman brought out my coffee, this was followed by a 20+ minute Wait for my food to arrive. Unfortunately the food was not very nice at all, the eggs were way overcooked and almost rubbery, the bacon had been left on a hot plate or kept warm somewhere for way too long and was greasy, fatty and tasted pretty bad, the mushroom was like a sponge full of grease, the sausages were the only thing that wasn’t that bad tbh. It came with one slice of toast so when the guy came outside I asked if I could please order another couple of slices, I handed him a £20 note and he went back inside, he came back about 5mins later and handed me the two slices of toast but, no change! I gave it about another 10mins and then asked about my change from the £20 note I had given him, he looked a bit annoyed and told me “He’s very busy in there, I will get it for you in a minute” even though there was only two people in the cafe by this point, 5mins later he brought my change to me. All in all, not a great experience! It’s sad because it’s a great place for a cafe albeit, very limited parking in area for customers. I don’t think I’ll be going back and I’ll stick to BLD’s on Mill rd or, Cafe 121 on Milton rd, very friendly and polite staff and quality...

Food - had a full English. Was perfect level of grease for me :) Filling and well proportioned. Presented nicely too. Looking forward to trying the chicken next time as it looked the bomb. Coffee - was nice, not too flashy. Complimented the breakfast well. I enjoy a good black coffee and am an aficionado. This coffee meets my approval for breakfast and lunch.

Service - very friendly and personable. Service time was as good as you could expect for cooked food. The gent remembered an order I had pre-made for a friend who was on her way. Classy.

Atmosphere- good amount of space between tables (many pack their cafes up to make more money). I felt I could do work there and have a private conversation with my friend. There was no background music but there wasn't a depressing din. It was calm and peaceful. Nice an open...

Good full breakfast. You get what you paid for. Not bad at all for £9.50 with coffee.

Very good and friendly service. The owner works very hard. Good luck to him.

In my honest opinion better premium sausages required. For example 1 sausage instead of 2 to keep existing price or maybe slightly price increase but better quality. In that case I'll come back again and again.

The place itself a bit empty and cold but with potential and room for improvement. For example good outdoor sign required to attract customers and bicycle rack outside.

5 stars because I know how difficult it is to run the place...
