Our first Escape Room and it was fantastic, we loved it! They ask you to arrive approximately 15 mins early (no problem, and then if you do run a little late it doesn't cut into your allotted hour).
There is plenty of parking for those coming from afar - although it is an easy walk from the town centre. On arrival the place doesn't look like much, especially when you have to wait in the entrance for the previous team to finish rather than go through, but this is to prevent you overhearing discussions and potential spoilers so understandable.
Four of us did Secret of The Tomb and we were hooked then entire time, the almost hour flew by (we escaped in 42:49, no clues) and we had fun the entire time. There's a good mixture of challenges, both physical (nothing too strenuous) and mental where you really do have to think outside of the box. The staff are there watching and available to give clues if needed but fortunately we didn't need them. Also in some parts people can separately work on clues which saves time. Tip: everything in the Escape Room will be needed at some point and is there for a reason, so if it's there then don't ignore it.
We're looking forward to more rooms opening there soon as we can't wait to go back.
Have fun (we certainly did)...
Read moreStaff were friendly and all the puzzles in the room worked without hiccups, however we found our room 'The Bomb' was a frustrating escape room to play.
Many of the puzzles are 'solved' by noticing something inconspicuous, rather than having to figure anything out. This meant we spent a lot of the time going over the places we'd already searched, running out hands along every nook and cranny multiple times. It was a fairly dark room and so we were getting our phone torches out repeatedly in case we'd missed something. It's worth noting the theme doesn't run throughout; 90% of the puzzles are random and could have related to any game.
As a group of escape room veterans/nerds, this particular room isn't one I'd recommend. The puzzles are fairly low-tech with lots of padlocks to be opened and only one or two visually interesting moments in the game.
We split into two teams and the other group played 'The Secret Clubhouse' and reported back a similar experience. Two of us have played the 'Heaven & Hell' room before (once in Cambridge and once in Budapest!) and loved it, so if you're coming here I'd strongly recommend trying that room...
Read moreSecond visit: Booked two rooms as part of a hen do, we made up a group of ten with 3 or 4 novices. The entire group loved the experience, and I think this might be the best set of escape rooms in Cambridge! I did 'The secret clubhouse' and it was a great blend of lore and challenge. I'm super happy with our time there and I can't recommend it highly enough! First Visit: Visited with two friends who were in Cambridge and hadn't been to an escape room before. The game (the bomb) was engaging while being the right level of challenging, and the room was well set up and maintained! We had a brilliant time and will...
