The overall experience was mediocre. It was a busy night, but we called beforehand to ask if a table was available and they said yes, then when we came they asked us to wait which ended up being around 10 minutes. Then ordering the food went well and the staff was friendly. I ordered a beer which had a stated price and volume on the menu, and they gave a bigger one that wasn't even on the menu, which also turned out to cost more. To be fair the price/volume was better but it's weird and a bit sneaky to put one thing on the menu and then automatically give a more expensive option. The food took a while to get there, but alright it was very busy. The food was good though. Then during the payment they gave us a wrong bill with a couple items we didn't have added, and the drinks weren't there. To be transparent, this wrong bill was less than the actual end price we told them we should have, so this wasn't malicious at all, just a bit messy. They do add a service charge which I wasn't aware of and am not sure I agree with fundamentally, but that might be more culture than their own "sneaky" practice.
So some small things to improve on and they probably should take less clients on if it's getting too busy, but when it's a normal evening I doubt it'll be a bad time...
Read moreI'll start by saying I'm relatively easy - going and rarely write negative reviews. But this place is truly a dive. The food is decent - very average, nothing special, but perfectly fine. However, the service is beyond a joke. I've been a regular here for a while and the service has always been poor. We always feel rushed from one course to the next and practically manhandled out of the door. Waiters frequently try to remove your food when you're clearly still eating. Last night, I popped to the gents and came back to find that my half - full pint of Cobra had been removed. You practically have to hold on to your food to ensure it isn't whisked away. And we're not talking about the end of a night when the restaurant is closing - they do this when there are plenty of other people still eating. Last night I was so annoyed about the removal of my drink that I asked to speak to the manager. He dismissed my complaint with an extremely patronising tap on my arm and a weak assurance that he'd 'have a word' with his waiters. At the very least I would have expected an apology and preferably a refund on the beer and the extortionate service charge too. This place is a joke. I didn't realise that service as bad as Basil Fawlty's...
Read moreI recently dined at The Maharaja , and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, setting a tone of hospitality that continued throughout the evening.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was simply delightful, scoring a perfect 10/10 in my book. The ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, making it the perfect setting for a memorable meal.
Now, let's talk about the food - exquisite! I ordered one of their curries, and it was hands down one of the best I've ever had. The flavours were rich, the spices perfectly balanced, and each bite was a delight to the taste buds.
However, what truly elevated my experience was the impeccable service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations that suited my preferences perfectly.
Overall, my visit to The Maharajah was nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Indian dining experience with top-notch service and incredible food. I'll definitely be...
