Black Rock Pub Trying to review all of the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this pub. It looks like a place with old history. So I always thought that it's just a boring one and two veg British pub. My bad. I took it back. It's a pub that is doing something different. Black Rock Grill. It's very important in my opinion. There are so many pubs, you need to have something unique that makes customers remember and return for you. Got a steak that was much cheaper than Kobe on the same street. Couldn't compare as Kobe is a fine dining restaurant while the Castle Inn is a pub. But still, the steak tasted good. No strange taste or smell. A rump steak but tasted like a fillet to me. One of the good things is that customers can choose their side. The side is not default. Healthy(salad) or crispy(fries). Either is not expensive. The environment is clean. The staff was nice. Toilets are roomy and clean. I will come back to try other items on the menu. See you around!

Castle Inn … thank you for providing a fantastic space to accommodate 15 people for our Christmas party from EACH charity. We were greeted with tables beautifully decorated. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Comfortable seating with lots of space to host games in between courses. We all had a traditional Christmas dinner wether it was turkey / vegetarian or vegan options. Everyone was catered for to the highest quality. All freshly cooked served piping hot with plenty of yummy gravy!! Nothing was too much trouble. The venue was very clean, including the loos. This will now be our traditional Christmas outing with out a doubt. Thank you to the Castle Inn , the talented chef and the amazing staff that made our party sparkle ✨

The Castle Inn is a well-located pub with nice ambient and median food. The pub is surprisingly spacious, with large tables on the second floor. It is also cozy and comfortable, and I especially enjoyed the old-fashioned ambient music selection. Ordering is done through a website, which is intuitive but has no Google Pay (typing card is required). Service was fast but I think a little bit overpriced (not above the standard though). The classic burger is median and fries could be better, but I would say they are good. The place has a large selection of beers but I did not recognise any known one (I am still getting used to UK beer). Overall, my experience at the Castle Inn was good and I would be happy returning to it.

Wow. This place has gone down hill in every way. I use to come here a fair amount before the pandemic. I've been a few times when things were still up and down and assumed it would get better. It's managed to get worse.

Bar had staff who just didn't seem to care. The bar was half stocked, I would say less than half the taps were on, the liquors were scarce and random. We ordered food bang on 6, 8 meals, 6 came after an hour and 20 minutes, then the 7th turned up wrong 10 minutes later and the 8th meal turned up an hour and 45 minutes after ordering. (We ordered them as one order too) No one acknowledged this was dreadful service, they werent even particularly busy and not so much as a sorry. When I pointed out that the last plate took an hour and 45 minutes and everyone else had finished and it wasn't on, I got an "uhh yeah" chuckle and that was about it.

The food for even how long it took was rank, we were showing our family from another country "classic British pub food" then was just embarrassed with what we got.

You need to get your act together, the Castle has always been a great place but you literally have nothing left from the character of the pub pre covid. I won't be coming back...

Came to a competition in Cambridge with our university, walked 30 minutes to come to what was described as a nice local pub. Walked in and it was so lovely and quaint. We were then told the room that had been booked out for us was closed now, all of a sudden closed. We then had to try and spread 16 people around this very lovely but very very small pub. In this process we first sat ourselves down and wanted to relax after an exhausting morning. Not even 5 minutes in we were then very rudely spoken to by a manager, who had no respect for us being there because we hadn't yet gone up, on speaking to him i mentioned I would be purchasing food, he then very rudely informed myself it was closed in a very patronising way, what pub doesn't serve food on a Sunday? It's safe to say we very quickly looked for somewhere else to take our business and the other 30 people joining us later on. It's not us who lost over £300 in...
