Me and my boyfriend went to La margarita on the last week and were met with a horrible dining experience. We are always incredibly kind to the waiters whenever we eat out as we know they work very hard and long hours. However, I am writing this review because our experience really was awful. From the minute we walked through the door it was dingy, cheap and unloved. We were met by a lady who was incredibly rude and cold which spoilt our evening from the get go. She lead us to a totally empty table (no napkins or cutlery whatsoever) on the corner of the ‘Restaurant’ Which was dark with no lighting. Me and my boyfriend tried hard not to let this taint our evening but then the food turned up. We ordered a platter of meat (£8.95), the bread basket (£4)and olives for starters (£4). When it came it was so little for the amount of money we were both shocked (one piece of lettuce a TINY sliver of cheese and a couple of salami pieces, the bread basket was four slivers of a baguette and the olives were five big one’s). We began thinking they had halved their portions because it was on a eat out to help out day (thank goodness!) which put a bad taste in our mouths to say the least. The pizzas for main were nice but again not worth the prices and they were extremely oily. The ending disappointment was the pudding (£7!!), determined to have a nice ending to the meal we ordered the misleading ‘waffle basket with ice cream’, it looked good when it came and so we tucked in praying it would be nice. Unfortunately mine was incredibly grainy like I was eating sand, I was so upset because I am never Critical of food and knew I couldn’t be anything but as they had done everything possible to ensure my boyfriend and I had such an awful experience.
Please don’t spend money at this restaurant, It is not worth your hard earned money,

I tried to buy a gelato from the gelato shop of the restaurant. The customer before me was apparently an international tourist from East Asia who didn't speak English. The white woman selling gelato seemed very annoyed with the tourist and asked where he was from, which is frankly none of her business. After the tourist finished purchasing, it was just me and my friends waiting to order, and we had been politely queuing.
For some reason, this woman then decided to ignore us, possibly because we are Asian as well. Another customer walked in, and she immediately took their order. At this point, we still politely asked her where the queue was, but once again, she pretended we didn't exist.
Now, I can't find any excuse for her other than she either has a hearing problem or a racism problem. Absolutely unacceptable.
Update: I just checked Google Maps reviews and found multiple similar cases where Asians are discriminated against at this store. I wonder if this is their...
Read moreI came across this restaurant at noon time and decided to be here for my evening meal and looked forward to it. I arrived here around 19:40 and noticed only a few tables were occupied. Half number of tables in the restaurant are empty. Yet I had kept waiting at the reception for minutes without being attended, though I had spoken to a male staff twice and noticed at least 3 staff were there. I felt quite embarrassed waiting there as a solo traveller. Eventually another staff who came up appeared to be very rude and arrogant and said if no reservation then you just have to wait (without attendance). If no reservation means no service, why the first staff I asked twice didn't tell me, but kept telling me waiting at the reception?! It is just so disappointing that a restaurant doesn't welcome guests, who travelled long distance to here and wanted to enjoy their meal. It is my first time coming to Cambridge and it is really an unfriendly...
