Absolutely superb. One of my new favourite places in Cambridge! A lot of the restaurants in the centre are fairly generic chains---not all! but a lot. The menu at this restaurant has a wagamama feel, to it---they even use some of the same crockery and utensils. But, in my humble opinion, is far, far superior. The food was absolutely fantastic. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. And, everyone else's that we saw looked fantastic too. Can't wait to go back. In fact, we'll probably go back next weekend! Occasionally, these independent places can be a little on the expensive side compared with similar restaurants in chains, such as wagamama. That really isn't the case here, though. The food is very well priced. The service is very good and friendly too. Plus, every single member of staff was wearing a high-quality face mask and properly. Two weren't wearing one temporarily when behind some screens, away from customers. But all customer-facing were whenever interacting with customers. I think all the chefs were, too---certainly all but one were the entire time. Excellent to see people taking public health seriously. Can't wait to visit again and you should visit as soon as you can!

Bitter Stir-fry The rival of this restaurant is the Chinese Canteen. I can understand. We are not in Asia. It's inevitable to adjust the menu to western taste. More chicken than pork options. Or worse, have to swap the original recipe, pork is replaced by chicken. But there are problems in the stir fry ho fan. It tasted bitter. It's the result of putting soy sauce too early while stir frying. It tasted bland. I think the chef only put dark soy sauce for colouring but forget to put soy sauce for saltyness. As a reminder, dark soy sauce(colouring) and soy sauce(saltyness)have different functions. Also, the stir fry was too oily. It is more oily than other Chinese restaurants in Cambridge. Had the same problem like I had experienced in the Chinese Canteen too. I felt very dry and thirsty after eating Yippee for the rest of the day. It's the symptom of consuming food with MSG. But the environment was genuinely clean and tidy. The staff was nice. Hopefully the stir fry will taste better next time so that I can adjust the rating.

My first time purchasing from here was a good experience. I suspect I was served by the boss/owner (older gent) as I had a warm, friendly welcome and the food (duck and noodles lunchtime special) tasted great.

Today at lunchtime I experienced something completely different. I saw the large poster on the front window advertising the 'duck and rice' lunchtime special for £10.90 so went in to order. I asked for 'duck and noodles' (same as I'd ordered last time with the older gent) and was told by a young male server who rolled his eyes and said firmly 'we don't do noodles, it comes with rice'. I thought this was strange as the shop is called 'Yippee Noodle Bar' but anyway I went ahead with the 'duck and rice' option. Just as I paid for the order I noticed I'd been charged over £17 (the lunchtime special is £10.90, which is plastered all over the front windows). I said to the server 'I thought the lunchtime special was £10.90?'. The young server replied with attitude 'I've charged you from the main menu as you didn't specify the lunchtime special'. Even though I was looking forward to the food I immediately asked for a refund as this rude, incompetent server tried to con me. Just be weary of these bad practices and in particular this rude young man that works...

I'd been here before and had a really lovely meal, and decided to return a couple of weeks ago with husband and daughter on a quiet Sunday evening. The staff were very friendly and mostly really attentive, although the waitress offered us a jug of water, and never reappeared with one - when I asked again about 15 mins later, she nonchalantly said there's no jugs available. My daughter had salads and she loved them, and my husband had beef noodles which were delicious and very flavoursome, and a really decent amount, too. I love prawns and chose the prawn Tom Yum Mai. When it came it contained all of 2 prawns. Two. Plus 2 small fishballs, 2 cubes of mushroom, and an absolute mountain of totally plain noodles in a small amount of watery broth. To be fair I was offered some extra chillis which was great and helped add some taste. I could only eat half of the noodles so I took half the other half home, and next day I added a large amount of prawns, a shedload of vegetables, some spices, a bit of sauce, coriander and more chillis, and it was much-improved. So, a bit of a mixed...
