On first impression it was great. We loved the atmosphere and artwork inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful initially when I asked about the menu.
However when we received our order there had been a miss communication regarding one of the plates of food. From them taking the order and the kitchen preparing it, to it then being served.
Honestly as someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for years from floor staff to management - I was shocked at how we were spoken to when we asked for it to be amended.
The person who came to us and asked what we ordered denied that we had order it a certain way in the first place. Upon us saying that we had certainly ordered it GF they pulled a face. - This whole interaction felt very confrontational.
Next we could see that member of staff behind the counter talking to the other members of staff and pointing at our table. Of course I understand that you are communicating to the team but it honestly felt unnecessary to repeatedly point and frankly it's rude.
Needless to say a different member of staff then approach us to say it was being made which we thanked them for.
I can quite easily say that I do not often feel the need to leave reviews and normally if I do it's because it's been a great experience.
And this was until we were made to feel that we were being unreasonable. This was our first time in The Locker Cafe - seriously not a...
Read moreMy first ever 1* review. Aimed at the barista working the coffee machine at 10:45. Food was delicious, smoothie was delicious, chai latte was delicious. After I had finished eating everything I was ready to just do 10 minutes of work to send an email… this barista came to me to very unkindly tell me that THIS WAS A LAPTOP FREE ZONE!!! Well, guess what Karen? (Wouldn’t it be great if her name really was Karen?) I have a 65L rucksack that weighs half my body weight and I’m NOT going upstairs where there’s no space available for me. I just spent over 20£ and found the perfect spot on the comfy brown sofa for me and my 25kg rucksack!!! But, you know what, since my ‘laptop’ turns back to an iPad, then technically I’m allowed😎😎 CHECKMATE KAREN!!’ Be a bit kinder next time!!! I will delete this review as soon as I get an apology from Karen. And leave a 5*...

This cafe is always very full and crowded whenever I passed by.
Finally got a table. Order two pastries, one eat in, the other take away.
Everything tasted good. I have nothing to fault.
The cafe was bigger than I imagine. Got a roomy toilet too.
Because I am trying to compare different chocolate pastries of Cambridgeshire, I took the chocolate pastry home.
It costs £3.40 and weights 87g. Quite expensive for a weight like that.
Nevermind. The pain Au chocolat of Stir is getting very small too. As the cost of living is getting high.
But the chocolate filling was the most among all of the Cambridge bakery and cafes. Good value than expected.
It's a cafe with impressive pastries and coffee.
Sorry to tell you that I have to deduct a star from the...
