Indian Cottage — Restaurant in Cannock Chase

Easter Monday takeaway. An honest and unbiased review. I ordered Garlic Chicken Mushroom delight, My wife had the Chicken Tikka Bhuna. We shared a Keema Naan and a portion ot Tarka Dahl. Firstly I can't fault the portion size - you certainly get a good helping. However, my meal had a LOT of excess Ghee lying on the surface which I had to strain off before I could eat. Once I'd done that the meal itself had a very nice flavour with a good amount of VERY tender chicken. My wifes meal however wasnt quite as good, A large helping again but the chicken was a little tough and the sauce was very tart and acidic - not the usual for a Bhuna. The Tarka Dahl was quite thin and watery and lacking the usual nutty/garlicky taste that makes it a favorite side dish which is a pity. The Naan was pretty typical of most takeaways and hunting the tandoori meat was the usual task. We recieved three free popadoms with a plain onion salad which was OK (but lacking in anything but onion) and a free bottle of full-sugar Pepsi which is nice if you really drink fizzy pop with an indian meal? Most other local takeaways throw in a few small onion bhajias which honestly is far better as a complimentary gift. As regular customers (35 years) of the better known restaurant next door we decided to move over to the Indian Cottage for both dine in and takeaway. This was mainly because we'd heard good things about the food and also because we felt that the other restaurant had ceased to value our loyalty and custom - the phrase "familiarity breeds contempt" springs to mind but thats another story! We've only dined in at the Indian Cottage a couple of times and this is probably our third takeaway from them. To be honest we may look around at other restaurants in future although we probably will order from the Indian Cottage again...

I had a takeaway delivered for the first time as i always use Tajmahal but wanted to give these ago, OMGGGGG totally amazing, sorry Taj these win hands down, food, service n of course the lil freebies, love love love it xx 2/12/23..... My 4th delivery from here and omggggg never been dissappointed, coming to sit in for a meal come january, cant wait for my birthday meal, fantastic food n service, thankyou I C XX 28/1/24...... Went for my birthday meal and omg i was not disappointed, totally amazing, the staff cant do enough for you and the food was awesome asusual, atmosphere is fantastic, we had a right laugh and the company i had were amazing too, loved everything about...

Callum here, hands down the best Indian I have ever tried in my whole life, wasn’t a big curry Fan until here, thought we would give it a go , me and my part religiously order from here every Saturday as a treat, sometimes 2 times a week, always so consistent, honestly if I could give more than 5* I would, the team go to great lengths to remember all there regular customers by name and seriously put 100% effort in every time, I’ve tried every curry house in rugeley and no where comes Close To the Indian cottage! game changer well done guys.
