Hubby and I popped in for lunch as we were in the area and had heard good things about Newhall Farm but I can’t say that we’ll be returning. First of all we were seated or should I say squashed in area with a table that was so close to another table that when I pulled my chair out the back of my chair was so close to the lady next to me that she was unable to use her cutlery. Seriously this is not an exaggeration. Out of necessity I moved my chair 90 degrees but this then meant that my husband was pushed even further into the dark alcove that we could hardly see the menus. We asked to be reseated and were then offered a high table by the bar with the world’s most uncomfortable stools even though there were other 4 seater tables available. If we hadn’t of ordered and paid for our food we would have left at this point. Food came after a 25 minute wait which to be fair was an acceptable time frame considering it was a Friday between Christmas and New Year and the pub was busy. My sandwich and chips arrived hot as did my husband’s steak and ale pie, the food was ok but nothing better than average pub food but what wasn’t acceptable was the dirty cutlery which was available. When I asked for a clean knife the server slapped down clean cutlery on the table as he fled by without stopping. Also my husband’s gravy had some unknown congealed lumps in. Another issue was the lack of heating in the pub, myself and husband spent the whole time there in our coats as did a large portion of the other guests as we were so cold. Surely the pub could afford a little heating in December so that there guests aren’t shivering. Overall the experience hasn’t left me with the...
Read moreArrived with family to celebrate my wife's Birthday & thought we would give this a try, which is out of our residential areas. Apart from Chocolate Brownie being served cold instead of warm, you couldn't fault the food at all. However, the issue of ordering your drinks & food at the bar when you are a large party is absolutely ridiculous & something that we haven't ever before experienced when dinning out. My wife asked for further drink & was told that we had to go to the bar, so we decided to forget having another drink, until about 5 mins later we were approached & asked if we would like drinks & this was a very welcomed request & we certainly indulged the opportunity, but believe this was only because we had moaned. Customers love to receive a great service, not a problem if just 2-4 of you are dining or sitting in the bar, but restaurant service should be on offered. Would also suggest applying signs for the ladies toilets, as we had a couple of ladies asked where they were, because signage was none existent & doesn't cost much. Seemed to be staff just walking backwards & forwards at times & need to be more proactive. Very disappointed with the whole experience, but food is reasonably priced & well worth it, complements to the chef. Really would like to give 5 star rating, but front of house definitely needs work. Oh & just because you arrive with children, doesn't mean that they don't eat adult meals, so maybe ask before presuming & give us menus that we don 't need & leaving us short on...

These beautiful souls allowed me to order from the childrens menu. ( I am,but just an ancient one now)Without the usual interrogation and my health condition, having being verified by both sets of great, great, grandparents.🤭
I almost ate an entire meal. I have energy, my self esteem has greatly improved.
Thank you you beautiful souls for your kindness and respect.
It is a pity, I live in the Highlands of Scotland, else I would have my own bar stool here.
This place is modern and cosy with good old fashioned values at its core. Exceptional.
Photo is a childs portion of food , perfect for me, thank you...
