Surprised at the positive reviews this place is getting, honestly. To be clear I don't think it's that bad, I just think it's bang average in an area replete with quality Indian food.
So I ordered delivery via Just Eat, and after the food took 90 minutes to arrive (when I live a 5-minute walk away), I noticed there were no poppadoms in the bag. Okay, technically not a big deal considering I didn't order poppadoms, but anyone who lives local will tell you that it's practically a tradition for Indian restaurants to bung in one or two poppadoms for free, so it's surprising when a restaurant doesn't do that.
Then I sit down to eat, and the food is bland and pretty tasteless overall. It's not bad, it's certainly edible, but it's just totally lacking in flavour compared to other local Indian restaurants I've tried. Then I discover that my keema and cheese naan appears to have no cheese in it at all.
So yeah, overall a very underwhelming experience and one I would recommend avoiding when the local competition, at least when it comes to Indian food, is intense. Maybe the in-restaurant experience is...
Read moreSorry for the late review!, we had a great experience at Spice of Hednesford last week. Food was amazing! We were recommended the Chicken Amdani (?) (a dish with a beautifully rich mango based, creamy sauce, sweet to taste and very refreshing and new compared to usual spiced dishes) by the amazing waiting staff. We had a great chat about culture and home life, to be honest it was amazingly refreshing to have a nice conversation during a meal ! Great atmosphere and felt really welcome ! We will be back to try more dishes!
My apologies I couldn't remember all the specifics, and for the late review. Nonetheless I would highly recommend the Spice of Hednesford to anybody wanting authentic cuisine and a warm relaxed atmosphere!
I really enjoyed our time here and loved hearing about your home life outside of work, and having a human to human conversation. Rather than the usual slightly tense interactions I see between waiting staff and demanding red faced locals...
Read moreWhat can I say about this restaurant. I don’t usually leave reviews ( I fact I think this may be my first ever one) the staff are amazing and the atmosphere is brilliant whether it be a Weekday or weekend. The food is always cooked fresh and to a very high standard. The staff will always change any dish to your liking without fuss. They are amazing with children if you’re a family dining and make them feel very welcome. Takeaways have always been of a very good standard too when I have used this service and always hot and fresh. Over the last couple of years I have been using spice of hednesford and can honestly say I’ve never experienced a service like there’s. Keep up the amazing work Suhel & Shueb you deserve everything you’ve...
