The Hen House — Restaurant in Cannock Chase

My partner and I visited the pub early evening with the intent of having a few drinks and ordering some food. We had not long picked up a coffee from Mc Donald's which my partner was carrying in her hand quite clearly when we entered the pub and placed an order for a pint of San Miguel at the bar. We were served by the barmaid whilst the Manager (who was leaning against the bar on the far side) looked on. After we had paid for the drink and sat down the barmaid approached us and advised my partner that she could not drink the remainder of her coffee on the premises. When we explained that the coffee cup was almost empty the barmaid said that the manager had told her to tell us that the coffee could not be consumed. Needless to say we finished our drinks and advised the manager that we would not be visiting this establishment again. It's a pity that the manager was so petty and short sighted because not only did he lose our custom for the rest of that evening, but we we will certainly not be spending our money at this pub whilst he is in...

Television was blaring could not hear each other speaking jukes box was also blaring. Ordered our food at 5.20 it didn't come out till 6.45 7 of us 4 got there meals and had to wait till 7 for the other 3 . Disgraceful. Chips were stuck together and cold, fish was over cooked could not eat the gammon sent it back and covered in black bits. Pie was rock hard, Some birthday for my husband and brother we will definitely not be going here again never had so much bad food. They gave us a refund for the gammon but nothing else. Staff seemed more bothered to serve the beverages than the food. My niece came out and threw up in the car park. Not the best of birthdays for both of them . To say we are disappointed is an understatement. I wouldn't mind but all the food is frozen how hard is it to cook frozen food. I could have cooked the whole room food while we were waiting. Waited 20mins at the bar to have our order taken because one barmaid started and then walked away and the other thought we were being served while the first was actually serving others the other side of the bar. Waited another 45 for food to arrive. The portion sizes were small. The pie was barely bigger than a pukka pie. It looked and tasted like it had been bought in rather than the hand made looking one on their website. The fish was ok. The only one who actually enjoyed their meal had the hunters chicken. The place was busy and lots of people were drinking, so if you're looking for a drinking pub it's probably a good choice, but don't go for food.
