I want to start my review by saying the servers were absolutely wonderful and super accommodating for us, they did a brilliant job dealing with a very difficult night. They are the only reason this is not a 1* review. In the past I have found wagamama to be tasty, fresh and consistent.
However...
Last night we went for my MIL's birthday, it was a Thursday so it wasn't busy at all. Despite the restaurant being quiet, the kitchen somehow managed to burn everything I was served. They also burned everything my partner, brother in law and mother in law was served. The restaurant actually smelled like fire at multiple points which I can only assume was our food, to the point that people were staring into the kitchen wondering what was going on. Our servers were extremely apologetic and explained that new management have changed things recently, which is contributing to a few issues in the restaurant. My 1.5yo was also waiting for his food for around an hour, you can imagine what he was like seeing people getting their food around him and not having his! He only had a very small, easy to cook meal so I don't understand why he was waiting so long.
After being served 3 burned dishes and returning them over the course of 2 hours, I gave up and left the restaurant having not eaten anything, which really isn't acceptable! I'm normally the kind of person who won't return a dish and will eat it regardless, but my food genuinely tasted like charcoal. Read moreWe had meal at this branded eatery at another location before and the meal served was good. So we decided to have our lunch at this outlet eatery. To our surprise the staff was poorly trained and the meal quality was appalling. When we was being seated, we spotted the seats (bench) on either side of the table was dirty with spillage of chilly oil. So we pointed to the staff and the staff went away and got some cloth and tried to clean it. The staff only cleaned one of the bench. There were lots of other unoccupied tables in the restaurant and we wonder why this staff still messing around and tried to clean the seats whilst the customers were made to wait around the table. If I was the staff I would have directed the customer to the next table. We requested to be seated at another table in the end as we don't want our clothes to be stained by the chilly oil.
Now comes to the food: we ordered some noodle and beef brisket meal and others have meals which had salads. For the noodle, the noodle's textile was poor, it was overly boiled and the soup was the water used for boiling the noodle. Should have used fresh water for the soup base. The brisket was stringy and dried. The other salad meal was like it has been prepared yesterday. The salads were not fresh and very dry.

Read moreI love Wagamamas as I've been to several, but this was the worst one so far. Included in my party were 5 adults and my nephew who is under 2.
We all ordered our food at the same time, and I am aware that the food will come out at different times, but this was shocking. My food came out first which was fine. I didn't eat my food quickly, and all the other dishes had come out apart from my nephew's. Considering he is a child, and we ordered food from the child's menu for him, it took the mick.
We raised it around 3 times that my nephew's food hadn't come out. I feel that the staff had forgotten to successfully place the order with the kitchen, or the kitchen forgot to cook it. However, we didn't receive any acknowledgement of this or a proper apology. I expect much better. I feel if we didn't approach the staff, then the food would have never come out.
The staff could have been honest about the situation, but they chose not to. My sister noticed after we raised it the second time, that a staff member went over to the kitchen and was talking to another colleague. They were pointing in our direction, but that didn't help the food arrive.
If we wasn't in a rush to leave, I would have kicked up a fuss to the managers. I wouldn't recommend coming to this Wagamamas if you...
