Canterbury has a seasonal nightlife which comes about through the student tides and having been brought up, worked and attended university in the area I feel experienced in knowing comfortably where to go for a decent night out. It's without a doubt that Chemistry is one of them places, having more to offer than most within the area and being able to boast a diversity of entertainment between the three floors that they offer. They have a hard-working, dedicated large-scale team that are consistently working hard to make any clubbers night more enjoyable. I can add that having female company may get you served quicker at the bar at times, but having bar experience myself, I believe that's just how the cookie crumbles. The diversity of music is beneficial in the club for somebody looking to alternate between the night or accommodating for everyone you may be with. I found it beneficial when the DJ starts playing a few tracks that aren't your vibe to simply move between the floors and see what's on offer, unlike other venues which leave you a little stuck; Or if you're simply fancying a break you can take advantage of some of the limited seating or the generous choice of two outdoor spaces located on the ground floor of the venue. If you're new to the area, I can thoroughly recommend taking advantage of the Chemistry party bus. I can't remember the exact time that they arrive but i'm sure if you contact the venue through social media you'd find out easily. The bus is a blessing for any night out, especially those cold winter nights, where you can enjoy a few drinks in town, hit up the local Weatherspoons with your mates and be taken at no cost to yourselves with door-to-door service to continue the party. Just make sure you're at the Thomas Ingoldsby 'Spoons' and not the other at Westgate if you're looking to benefit from this service. All-in-all, you can feel assured that if you're looking for a club to go party this place is in the top 5...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to club chemistry for the first time with 2 of my mates, had just been in Cuban which was absolutely fine but decided to go chemistry for the end of the night. When we entered we where all searched which is standard for a a club to do then I payed entry and walked all the way to the top floor. As soon as I got up the stairs and took my coat off I was asked to leave with 2 bouncers. I was confused but followed them with no problem, once outside one of the bouncers said āWe have to search you because we have had a report your selling drugsā I then said āfrom who I have literally been in there for under 3 mins but sure if you want to search me again thatās fineā the bouncers then told me I was coming at them with attitude and asked me to leave. The attitude they are referring to is me knowing Iām not a drug dealer and knowing I had nothing to hide so of course I was very confident and eager for them to search me so I could return to my friends. But no at that point I was kicked out and not even searched, no one checked the security cameras for when I had entered and no one else matching my description was taken out of the club. So even if they where looking for a dealer in the building they did a terrible job wasting there time with me (an innocent paying customer) Now ether they just donāt know how to conduct there security to a professional level by looking for some sort of proof before accusing and kicking me out or they have discriminated against me because Iām young mixed raced and have dreads. Probably the worst experience I have ever had with a club. Please do not go if your a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently came here as a student and wanted to check out the local club scene. This review is after 2 weeks at the ClubChem experience. Was trying to gather my thoughts as to why the experience was as such. So, the security team at the entrance was racey. Maybe it was just me but after a lot of thought, it felt how it did. I was the only one who the all white boy team, asked ID from. and I'll put it into perspective I don't look 25, I am in my 30s and everyone knows it. I explained to them that I'm not carrying my passport since that's not safe but I do have the details on my phone they can gladly check. after 3-4 mins of back and forth and alot of people just passing by and going in without an ID check, i felt uneasy. After the debate I checked if I had my home town ID, which incidentally I did, the guys let me go get a pat down. Which was was done as to just pat one on the head like they are doing me a favor. I went inside and felt really uneasy with the whole situation that I had just experienced. The bar people were nice and were kind. After 10 mins and a drink, I just got up and left because the experience at the door just felt really humiliating. I came back to my accommodation and discussed it with other students who felt this was not normal and was not in my head. Anyway. they recommended going to...
