Welcome to Whitstable, home of the tiniest stores/restaurants etc. There's barely any space inside due to it being so narrow.
Had a mushroom ramen. Didn't like the noodles, but that's probably just personal taste as these are 'soba noodles' and were brown grey in colour. Mushrooms are really thin weird ones I've never seen in food before. Couldn't taste them. Nor could I detect them on the tongue as they're so thin.
Tofu is fried outside. It's hard outside. Really horrible that it's hard and not in keeping with a ramen dish.
The only good thing about this dish was the miso broth which was tasty.
The edamame beans were undercooked. Hard.
For £12 you get a tiny portion.
Beef burger. Sugar filled bun, barely any burger sauce, not much flavour except sugar. Brioche bun. Never knew what it was before. Turns out it's a diabetes giving, sugar filled bun that's dry. No chips or fries. You have to pay £4 for those. Fish and chip shop nearby will give you a HUGE portion of chips for that much. £10 for the beef burger.
Portions tiny for the money and taste lacking.
I rounded up the prices by 10p.
Reception right next to doorway, so if people are being served, you're trapped inside till they are done.
Tapwater had an odd taste. Might be the glass. Don't forget, much of taste is smell. Glass may not have been washed properly. Or might just be the tapwater here.
10% tip added to the bill. Do you tip people that work at supermarket checkouts? How about your gas provider? No? This stupid expectation of giving money for free needs to end. Obviously you can ask for the tip to be removed but tips need to be extinguished and shouldn't be added to a bill unless the customer requests it...
Read moreI used to come here regularly, however on the last visit I noticed something massively with the way it was run both in terms of the food quality and the service levels.
We came in as a group of 4 adults and 3 toddlers. Ordered coffees and a few burgers and some prawns on toast. For the most part, the food was good except for 2 of the burgers which were far too overcooked and the guys who ordered ended up only being able to eat a few bites out of them. We informed the waitress who was clearing the table about this. When we went to pay, we said to the waitress at the till that we thought that the 2 burgers should be taken off the bill as they weren’t eaten (the total bill would have still come to over £80) The waitress then went straight to the manager who came over to ask what the problem was. When we told him we were given a response of “well, I’ve had the food here and I can tell you that it’s incredible”. When we said that the burgers were far too overcooked (one beef and one chicken burger) he just said that the chicken has to be cooked through. After arguing that it was just too overcooked and dry, he simply walked away and told the waitress only to remove one of the burgers. I’m not usually one to give poor reviews, but the attitude of the manage alone was completely unacceptable. Having worked in catering and customer service, it is your responsibility to listen to the feedback of your customers, and not to be arrogant or rude. I do hope that no one else is unlucky enough to be faced with this kind of situation, but this was enough for all of us to never return...

Behind its unassuming exterior an absolute delight awaits.
I had lunch here with my mum recently; we enjoyed every bite of our delicious lunches.
Goats cheese salad for her and the mushroom burger and mac & cheese for me. After spotting the side on the pass ready to go for someone else I knew I had to have it!
When I say the mac & cheese is heavenly, I'm not playing this down, it is simply divine, and I regularly daydream about it! Even my mother who is not a fan of the dish generally, couldn't resist tucking into it. Gooey, melty, super cheesy goodness in every single bite.
My only complaint is that it's not offered in a bigger portion as a main with some garlic bread on the side!
The whole flat mushroom in the burger was breaded and deep fried and then added to a bun with a host of complimentary condiments including kimchi and made for a delightful eat.
It's a family run business and you can feel the love and passion in every detail of it. We spent some time chatting to the owner who was absolutely lovely, with her grown children manning the kitchen, we heard how her younger daughter can be found helping out front of house during school holidays and weekends.
Just a lovely afternoon out with fantastic food. Highly, highly recommended and will...
