I had 2 waiters. A male and a female.
Female was nice, male seemed grumpy.
Ate Indian chickpeas and aubergine with spicy tomato sauce.

The latter dish comes with halloumi cheese, which I don't like, so I asked for it not to be included and asked about price as I'm not having the cheese.
The male waiter said the price will be reduced as I won't have the cheese. When asked by how much he said he doesn't know. He didn't bother to say he'll find out and tell me.
I ordered it anyway without knowing how much it would cost.
Chickpeas were cold from the fridge. Doesn't say it's cold from the fridge on the menu, so I assumed it's going to come hot. It's an Indian dish, and in any Indian restaurant such a dish would ALWAYS be served hot.
Cold from the fridge isn't pleasant. It dulls flavour. The chickpeas weren't cooked enough. And the flavour wasn't great. The dish tastes like it contains star ainse, but it this specific ingredient tastes raw. The flavours didn't taste like they had been made into a cohesive flavour profile.
Yoghurt couldn't really be tasted and same for the coriander.
Spices likely weren't bloomed.
Portion was fairly small for £6.5 and it's just chickpeas with some spices etc. No bread or anything. You can get better cooked canned chickpeas for £1 from the supermarket and make this dish you

JoJo’s is a real treasure — a fun, informal, family-run restaurant offering a truly special dining experience. The atmosphere is relaxed yet polished, and the food is all freshly cooked to order with a strong Mediterranean influence.
Perched on the slopes of Tankerton, JoJo’s boasts stunning views across the estuary — particularly magical at sunset.
We began with the mackerel pâté and fresh bread — rich, perfectly seasoned, and a delicious way to start the meal. For mains, I had the special: pan-fried fillets of plaice served with mussels, brown shrimps, spinach, and samphire. It was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. My partner chose the fish goujons, which were crisp, golden, and wonderfully light — a comforting classic done to perfection.
We sat adjacent to the kitchen and thoroughly enjoyed watching the chefs at work. It was clear how much care and attention went into every dish. Our server, Sid, was outstanding — knowledgeable, warm, and engaging. Her recommendations were spot-on and elevated the whole experience.
To round off the evening, the cocktail bar was a real treat. If you’re after something a little special, Trix and Donna deliver with flair and precision. Their mixology skills are superb, and the cocktails are every bit as beautiful as they are delicious.
JoJo’s is a true hidden gem — exquisite food, thoughtful service, and a beautiful setting. Highly...
Read moreThe positives: Friendly staff. Some nice food. Obviously popular with families despite the below.
Negatives: Yes the food is nice but is extortionate (and I live in London). Seemed quite up itself - like it's unique so they can charge whatever they want, but the concept is far from unique and the staff uniform makes it seem more fast food than high end restaurant which their prices suggest.
£12.95 for four croquettas is ridiculous, I had hoped we'd get a few more or at least they would be larger than usual but they aren't. Bulgar wheat moroccan salad - just bulgar wheat cooked in some stock with about 4 sultanas and some parsley.
No high chairs, no kids menu. We would have probably stayed another 30-45mins and spent another £20-30 had our toddler been able to sit in a high chair rather than kneeling on a normal chair. The waitress said 'The number of times people say that to me, I don't know why we don't have them, there are always kids running around the place too'. Clearly it's something the owners don't want to provide as there's a review on here from 3 years ago stating the same. There is a baby change (though no hygienic nappy bin).
Save your money and go to Samphire in Whitstable instead. Despite being a more upmarket restaurant they were so well set...
