Really gone down hill as a place. Used to come here weekly for years as it has a great atmosphere. I was refused service after arriving because I was carrying my girlfriend’s uniclo bag (essentially her hand bag). There was no issue with my girlfriend wearing the bag on entry, but because I offered to carry it for her while dancing, I was refused service. There were 4 girls in our group with the same bag on. We would have been more than happy for someone to look in the bag if there was a concern with its contents. Seems common sense went out the window here.

I think your policy needs reviewing regarding bags - if there is a bag you are concerned about it should be looked through at the door before entry (irrespective of who is carrying it) - that’s why you have a doorman. The man working behind the bar needs to be trained on what type of bags he is looking for as he claimed I was wearing a bum bag. Looking at the description on the uniclo website, it is described as a round mini shoulder bag. I understand we may not all be fashionistas like my girlfriend, but many of his other colleagues behind the bar did not seem concerned by this bag.

It’s a shame for the pub as we had a group of 15 who all left after this - probably emptying half the dance floor. Instead the pub was left with a rugby team, some of whom were looking for a fight, pushing people around. Good luck with them as...

A fine enough pub but avoid their quiz like the plague

The codger running it said it was a tribute night in solidarity with Diddy (yes that one) and asked to be called Pub Daddy. It was all music based and the first round relied on his tuneless guitar playing where each repeat of a question sounded like a different song. Maybe it's better when he isn't running it but if you see an old bloke collecting the quiz fee run! At least Spoons are upfront about supporting awful people...

Its just your normal sort of pub. Normal range of drinks. Shots, cask beer, lager on tap. Exactly what you would expect. Has a large back room that you wouldnt presume exhisted. So if you walk past and it looks full threre is probarbly somewhere to sit out there.
