The Maharaj — Restaurant in Carlisle

Firstly, please note I dont live in the area just work and stay in hotels. The Maharaj, the food wasn't too bad, naan, madrs sauce, chicken biryani and chips, the chips were a let down as they were under cooked, abit longer and they would have been perfect, but not going to say avoid as i said the food wasn't too bad infact try it you may enjoy it. Too the driver, this is why i've given 3 stars, in hotels never leave the food in reception and then ring the customer to tell them you've left it there, you were about to do the same thing again when you were at the correct hotel, luckily i was stood outside and asked if you were from Maharaj, use ggogle maps or satnav, both hotels have different post codes, i know as i stayed at the one you delivered to...

Cant fault the food and can’t fault the service especially Bryony who was exceptional, polite and excellent at her job.

My only problem is with this restaurant is the owners take all the tips meant for the waiting staff and keep them for themselves.

This is not on , absolutely despicable behaviour and totally unfair on the staff who are the face and main point of contact of your restaurant for all customers and deserve the tips they are given.

Seriously if you have to take tips out of the pockets of your staff then your very lucky to have any staff at all

Tips are meant for staff, not for business owners, Stop being mean and give the staff their tips !!!

Ordered an takeaway last night. The popadoms were cheap and nasty, overcooked, overpriced, and you only get two small broken ones . The state that they are they should be free. It has to be said that my curry was possibly the worst curry I have ever had from a takeaway. It looked like it was full of MSG. The consistency and texture was just all wrong not to mention the taste. I know my curries, I will travel miles for a good meal, we took a chance and we failed last night. My meal was a complete waste of money. I will never use this again. But having said that the naan bread was it's only positive for me. The other curry we ordered was enjoyed by my partner.
