Sugar Rays — Restaurant in Castle Point

Paid for an event which was brilliant. The cost also included one milkshake and two small pancakes at the establishment. My son has special needs and didn’t like the texture of the milkshake. I politely asked if I could change it for a pancake, and explained that it was because of the texture and that my son was autistic. I was made to feel like I was trying to something extra without paying!

The older lady whom I presume was the manager at first looked at my blankly like she was shocked at what I was asking and then abruptly said ‘well no coz you’ve paid for pancakes and milkshake’ to the which I said I know & I repeated the reason why I was asking and that my son was autistic. Then I said on well have you got a bin then and placed the full up milkshake on the counter and she said rudely said ‘yea’!

I’m actually quite upset and annoyed that in this day and age people can still be so narrow minded and make a parent feel as I was made to feel today.

Safe to say it’s NOT an establishment that is autism friendly. However it is dog friendly, they will let a dog bark repeatedly even if it scares the children and makes them feel uncomfortable and cover their ears with their hands! Without...

Absolutely love it here. Huge choice of shakes, pancakes and waffles. You pick from a wide choice of toppings, ice cream and topping to make your perfect sweet treat. Extremely good value for money. Great for everyday or special treats. Staff are always really friendly and are fab with the kids. Sometimes, due to its popularity and made to order food and drink, there may be a short wait, but there is an adjoining arcade and a tv showing family features within the Sugar Rays seating area.
