Village Indiya Restaurant — Restaurant in Castle Point

I have been eating curry regularly for about 15 years. I previously had a favourite Indian restaurant which I remained loyal to for years, however the owner moved away and I was left without a reliable source of my favourite food! I spent the next two years trying lots and lots of different restaurants and eventually found Village Indiya and was very impressed. I have now been eating here for the last 3 years and have never had a bad experience. The menu is varied, containing not just all of the 'standard' dishes but many imaginative and original specials as well. You can tell the ingredients are of a good quality and effort is put into making each dish delicious. I have visited the restaurant, had takeaways delivered or collected many times but this last occasion was definitely the last ! I had a takeaway delivered on Sunday 30th May, I always get a chicken shashlik within my order. This was the worst shashlik I have ever encountered, you would have sent it back if it had been brought to your table if eating in. It was a bright red oily mess with some uniformed cubes of “chicken” swimming around in it ! I shouldn’t of eaten it, but being bloody starving I tried to, I ate half before leaving the rest, it tasted like Chinese chicken ? Was obviously fried pieces of frozen “chicken” ! Got takeaway on just eat from “penisu” for the first time which turned out to be this Indian restaurant instead. Food arrived 30 mins late

Prawn pengnang curry was cold and prawns were very over cooked and hard It was also swimming in oil Chicken Thai curry was cold and the chicken was old and overcooked It was also swimming in oil Dumplings were wet and fell apart could even pick them up with a fork Pad Thai was cold and more like a cake that needed slicing.
