I visited today (08/09/2023) with my wife around 2pm, for lunch. Ahead of us was a delivery driver for another pick up. The subway staff had put together the sandwich, but the driver said it was cancelled and walked off. The staff then took out the food ingredients from the sandwich back into the containers!
I couldn't believe what I saw. So I asked what was in the sandwich they had made - Chicken and bacon. They'd put the bacon in and were about to put in the chicken when I told them that isn't right. It's basic hygiene to not mix ingredients. That's why they are in separate containers to begin with.
They thought there's no issue since the chicken and the bacon are both non veg and they'd only touched on one side, and for a few minutes. I said no - you cannot do that. I said that I wanted to order chicken, but I don't eat bacon. They kept telling me I'm a non veggie so what's the problem.
When I asked for a manager to explain about allergens, intolerances or just common sense and freedom to order only what you want, they told me conveniently there isn't a manager available. She went to hide in the back. Another person came out to see what was going on.
I explained what had happened, and the person that did it nodded and said she did do this and was sorry. Then that person said we do this to save money. I said that is not on. For the sake of a £3 sandwich, you've put us two off for life. I don't eat beef, and that's the case for many people with certain dietary requirements. Some will not eat pork. There's lots of dietary requirements - some religious, some personal preference.
From what I saw Subway staff in this branch don't care about your dietary preferences. They care about...
Read moreI rarely visit subway these days, but we decided to treat ourselves. I chose the veggie chicken, just to give it a go. The subway sandwich maker seemed really confused. He asked me several times whether I was aware that it wasn't actually chicken.
I told him that I knew that and still wanted it. A very strange experience which continued.
He asked whether I wanted a bag and I said yes. Normally I don't get a bag for small items, but it was two meal deals (drink and crisps) so I needed a bag. He informed me that its going to cost me 10p. I said that's fine.
He repeated it again, as if somehow I wasn't aware that bags now cost. I said its fine, I need a bag. He gives me the bag, rather than putting the items in the bag fir me and then, quite aggressively tells me that I have a right to refuse, but he must offer the bag to me. I was a bit baffled by this. He then prods at a small sight near the till which essentially says "you have the right to refuse a bag. It'll be better for the environment and save me money".
Very strange. Yes, I'm aware bags are not good for the environment if not disposed correctly. Yes, I'm aware it's going to cost me. As a customer I've decided I needed a bag as I forgot to bring my own. I'm not really sure whether subway staff have proper training in...
Read moreThis is worst subway outlet I have ever been. I went in with my 4 year old son at around 3 pm. There was no customer waiting and the store was entirely empty. One staff (Purnima) was doing her stuff of refilling. I waited for around 5 mins and then told her if I could be served as I have to pick up my daughter from the school and getting late. She chose to continue with her work and ignored my request. So I asked once again. She for no reason at all started defending herself and started saying things that I couldn’t even believe.
Her exact words were’BECAUSE YOU ARE AN INDIAN YOU ARE COMPLAINING… A WHITE CUSTOMER WOULDNT HAVE DONE THAT!!!’
I was completely taken aback by this racial slur.
I was so annoyed that I had no choice but ask her name to make a complaint. Not only her but also her colleague refused to give her name. Upon insisting again and again she just gave the first name.
I feel insulted and very annoyed that something like this could have happened.
NEVER AGAIN TO...
