Eagle & Hind — Restaurant in Chelmsford

Okay we had two pizza's margaretta and BBQ chicken with mushrooms, garlic cheese bread, salad and onion rings all was fresh and cooked well. To drink rhubarb gin, wow very refreshing on a hot day and the house Spanish white which worked well with the food. Alas no bottled Abbott premium Green king beer. The barn in Chelmsford does have this if good beer is your thing.

There were few guests, end of service and pub was quiet. To our liking.

Now the other bits. Maddi out waitress / bar server was whitty and attentive to our needs, pleasant and not over keen also did not appear bored or could not be bothered as pub was quiet. Sometimes quietness brings out the worst of service as does being over stretched. So thank you

We were introduced to Joey the chief who was polite and humble. Although on breaks they included us in conversation about the publican trade.

They also appeared to enjoy working at the Eagle and Hind, highlighting the entertainment, the fantastic Sunday lunch (which we heard about form other sources) and Christmas. It is good to see a real talent and appreciation of good customer service.

Today Thursday 4th august 2022 we met up with some neighbours and decided to try the Eagle and Hind. We walked in at first I honestly thought there was a wake in the pub, this elderly rude man behind the bar never said a word to us as we approached the bar, we ordered our drinks He Never said a PLEASE OR THANK YOU. Out side the pub has a huge board advertising fresh food (what a laugh) we asked this so called barman if food is being served his reply NO. We all walked out and told another crowd that was going to enter the pub not to bother they got back into cars and went else where. As no food was available the people opposite to us ordered a takeaway and sat eating it in the pub. I would not and will not recommend this...
