Hot Wok (Essex) — Restaurant in Chelmsford

This used to be my 'go to' Chinese takeaway but after a bad customer service experience I will not be going back.

The food is good, but when you pay the price for a takeaway, you want it all to be there when you get home.

Sadly this time when I got home, it was missing the rice. So I quickly rang them expecting a sympathetic response. What I actually got was a come back and get it attitude along with a well if you want to wait then we'll deliver.

I pointed out that the chicken dish would be going cold whilst i come back or wait so could they re-do that dish seeing as how it was their fault. Answer....no.

I don't expect to have to put the meal in the microwave to heat it up whilst I correct THEIR mistake.

I went back to get my rice and got a shrugged shoulders kind of sorry mate.

Here's the news Hot Wok, work on your customer service. Chicken balls are a lot cheaper than your reputation.

I ordered a takeaway for delivery for the first time from this place and it was the nicest Chinese I've had for ages. The food was lovely with plenty of sauce (my usual bugbear) and the portions were really big. I've waited until the next day to post my review because the last Chinese I had from a different location was lovely but I felt very rough the next day. Not with this one and I'll be going back! Also, we had the tofu which was absolutely gorgeous, I'd definitely recommend. Ordered from here twice now via their website and have been really impressed both times. Tonight was an £80 order on a Saturday night, yet still arrived in less than an hour (and we're in Mayland!) with no issues.
