Shakils — Restaurant in Cherwell District

I cannot praise this fantastic restaurant highly enough. Unable to attend the venue booked for our son's post wedding meal with virtually no notice we were put in touch with Shakils. Not only did they step in to save the day by opening early but they provided us with a socially distanced but still memorable experience. I will start with the staff who were friendly, obliging and professional. They wore masks throughout which helped make myself and the other members of our party who were classed as covid vulnerable feel safe and comfortable. The food was top class. Freshly cooked and prepared it was delicious and the portion sizes were just right. There was an excellent selection and the menu included not only the well known "classics" but a number of regional dishes for the more adventurous to try. The restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere, and was very clean. This included the glasses, non of which were smeared and grubby looking. It made me feel confident about using them and though a small thing helped me relax. This was my first experience of eating out since March and I was undoubtedly a bit nervous about attending. Today me and my mate came for the first time as it looks nice from outside. However, we are not happy at all about the customer service provided here. The place looks lovely and food was delicious but the way they spoke to us wasn’t acceptable. I want to make them know, we know you were talking about us between the all the staff and laughing, we are not stupid! Also they were on their phones a lot. Even when another person came to their main door the main man, told him to get lost.

The staff didn’t tell us about the kitchen shutting at 10pm when we first entered , they only mentioned it when we sat there for few mins looking at the menu but they were rude about it “kept asking you ready ready ready to order” … they were standing around staring at us then when my mate questioned out of curiosity it says something different on menu about when they shut and doesn’t say anything about shutting the kitchen at 10 from what I remember , the big man in the suit got snappy and rude towards him. He said about having to pay for electric etc costs a lot! But how is that the customers fault! when we were leaving he turns all the lights on.. Then makes a comment saying something about customers. My mate said; yes we are also customers no!?

Payment take. Awful service RUDE!! I have ordered from shakily many many times and never normally have a problem. I have just ordered off the website for delivery and nothing turned up. I called up to check and they told me there kitchen was closed even tho their website says they are open until 11:30pm. I ordered at 9:25pm !!! The person who answered the phone was not helpful and was actually fairly rude. He explained it was a problem with the website and they can’t physically change the opening and closing time which is clearly a lie. I then checked just eat and they were also still open for delivery on just eat. He then explained that they stop delivering earlier then if you go to pick the food up. So at 9:47 pm I said I would order over the phone to pick it up. He still refused and said no the kitchen is shut. The money has come out of my account, I asked him if they could refund me and he said that it’s not their problem and I need to sort it out with my bank.
