Visited this propper real ale pub Tuesday 27th July 2021 This pub has nice friendly owners. Great locals, great old style interior, ample amounts of real ales, and when in Chesterfield on the piss a must to have the odd gallon in Sunday 11th June 2023 This pub I again visited This absolutely stupendous real ale pub cannot be faulted in any wat a propper edwardian real ale pub serving a multitude of really well kept hand pumped beers on 2 banks of ales there were 4 reating devil ales on brewed on its premises and the staff tonight so polite and helpfull This pub also has great outdoor drinking areas and the background music, not all this up to date crass Anyone who likes real ales who comes to Chesterfield must be insane if dont come here 21st April 2025 This pub is a great Chesterfield real ale pub as it always has been on my visits There are about 10 hand pumps on a great local pub, and its owners know how to keep a great pint of real ale when in the town of Chesterfield drinking real ale this pub is an essential visit to...

This is my favourite pub in Chesterfield by far. A great selection of well kept real ales at reasonable prices. Lovely big traditional pub with great friendly and efficient staff. Just one thing spoils it somewhat,..they allow people to vape. Which makes me feel ill, and my friend who has breathing problems cannot contemplate joining me in there. This annoys me greatly because the people with an addiction to polluting substances are being preferred to those who just want to breath fresh air, and there is no provision made for us !? A shame to spoil an otherwise great pub with a great atmosphere for a few idle inconsiderate people who haven't got the good manners to take their horrible smelly...

One of the best pubs I have ever visited. (1000's over 45 years of drinking) Fantastic rear room and excellent beer garden. The oak paneled front bar is also pretty good. About 12 real ales. Great selection. Chestetfield is a super destination for beer fans and for me this is the jewel in the crown.. we are back in 2023 with Boothroyd and Casta and even better..they now also brew their own beer, The Resting Devil Brewery at the back end of the rear barn room. Had a super Twisted Pale at 4%. Well worth a 15 min walk...
