Located in the beautiful area of Rivington, the café itself is charming and has a rustic yet modern aesthetic that blends well with the surrounding natural beauty of the area. The interior is tastefully decorated, with comfortable seating arrangements and an abundance of natural light that creates a pleasant ambiance. The menu at The Rivington Café offers a diverse range of options to cater to various tastes and dietary preferences. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, or a scrumptious dessert, you're sure to find something to satisfy your cravings. The staff at The Rivington Café were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The service was efficient, and my order was promptly delivered to my table with a smile. The Rivington Café also provides stunning views of the surrounding countryside. There is outdoor seating available, allowing guests to enjoy their meals while taking in the picturesque landscape. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely brunch or a peaceful afternoon coffee. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor to Rivington, I highly recommend paying a visit to this lovely café. It's a hidden gem that captures the essence of the area and offers a delightful culinary experience.

Awful experience with the owner. We were sitting outside and the table had no table number on it which we explained whilst making the order. We had waited half an hour and because another table had taken our food (the order they took was wrong anyway, they even told the staff and the staff member just looked at them blankly and just put the tray on the table) we ordered one balm and then two individual sausages on their own - no bun. That’s not what even the order that the other table took. I went in and asked how long our order would be after half an hour and they said that we couldn’t have the food we ordered and told us we had to have a refund. I explained that I just wanted the food we ordered and the OWNER HAD AN ACTUAL ARGUMENT WITH ME INFRONT OF A QUEUE OF PEOPLE TRYING TO SAY THAT ITS OUR FAULT. It’s so unfortunate because the cafe is situated on a lovely spot and we came her when it was less busy and the service was fine. Maybe put numbers on the table and don’t blame customers for YOUR mixup.

Unfortunately our Mothers day experience here was ruined when we arrived to find we did not have the table we had specifically booked. I wouldn't usually leave a negative review simply for a table mix up but the reaction we got is the reason I am sharing. On arrival we told to who we thought to be the owner/organiser that the table we have been provided was not what we requested, to which we got shrugged sholders and no apology at all. We arrived with 2 extra children which they did get two extra chairs for and supplied drinks and food for last minute but may I say I did try to add the children on buy phoning through but there was never any answer. The food was good but I would say over priced for what we recieved, although the girls serving were lovely. They had a singer who was great but the volume was extremely loud so we couldn't hear eachother speak, we decided to get takeaway and sit outside with the view we had requested and to chat together without shouting, as we left to sit outside the owner looked at us but decided not to say thank you, goodbye, sorry for the inconvenience... clearly didn't care that our experience wasn't great, then proceeded to hand out flowers to all the other customers apart from us, unbelievably rude and spiteful not professional in the slightest!

Regarding your reply

Still no apology for the mix up, no ownership of that what so ever, i knew this would be the case because it was the case on the day and that was the whole issue as I mentioned above.

Yes I was upset and rightly so when arriving to have booked a window table for that to be given away and us placed in the middle of the restaurant with the view of everyone elses heads and looked at like i have just slapped someone across the face because i told you i had requested to be seated there upon booking.

Yes I said above you seated my children and also mentioned is the reason I didn't get the chance to book them on in the first place, I didn't request anything free and didn't expect anything but 2 chairs.

As you well know we stayed long after everyone else left we were very visible seated outside and ordered drinks and even came back in for ice creams.

Your attitude and lack of empathy towards the mix up of table is the reason I'm here reviewing, and unfortunately has put us off ever returning, it's great everyone else enjoyed their day as it...

I have visited the place many times and the general standard of the food has been consistently poor. It's a shame because the views are great and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. If only they could up their game a bit. 10% more effort in the preparation would improve things 100%. Last visit I had a bacon, egg and sausage barm and it was nice to see the runny yolk but less nice to see the barm completely swimming in it. Why put it down on a napkin? Is it meant to soak up all the yolk? It's just a sticky mess that I don't want to cover my hands in. The bacon was a barely cooked floppy pink colour with the fat still snow white. Not pleasant. We also had a portion of chips which were average and 2 different slices of cake that were equally long on icing and short on moisture. We didn't finish any of it. I will still be a regular here for the cold drinks pit stops while walking around the reservoirs but I recently discovered the village green tea room just up the road that serves much better food in much bigger portions so I will be going there for food instead. If you just want a drink and a view then this is probably a good option. Edit: It was nice to see the owner of this business actually responding to my review but I feel I should just address a few comments. I didn't have a bit of yolk on my napkin, the whole of the bottom of the sandwich was swimming in egg yolk. There is a word for the way you tried to downplay it. "Gaslighting" . As far as failing businesses goes, the ones that succeed are the ones that care about the quality of their product and don't respond to criticism by blaming the customer. Unfortunately, since you have invited me to never visit again, this review will never change and judging from the attitude of the response I think I'm being pretty generous. As far as mentioning another tea room, it's in the public interest to know there is an alternative. I hope that readers of this review visit both establishments and make up...

Me, my partner and 2 children came down from Warton yesterday to meet with family and have a bite to eat here before a nice walk around the area. Upon arrival we could see that they were busy with a function on and with it being a nice day there was lots of members of the public too. We queued inside for drinks and barms. It was 2.30pm and I was told they still served these at this time usually. The girl behind the bar explained they had stopped serving food because of the function but the pasties and sausage rolls were available so we ordered those instead. As we waited for these to be prepared, another person next to us began to order barms with another waitress so we asked that girl if they were still serving barms and she said yes. This happened just as the previous girl came out with our pasties so we said well we originally wanted barms but were told they weren’t being served now so we got pasties instead. As we explained this, a young man who was pulling a pint for another customer said with an attitude “she made a mistake, you’ve got those now so leave it.” I was taken aback by this smarmy comment from a member of staff. His body language and the way he spoke was uncalled for and put a dampener on the rest of our afternoon. Any other place would have easily taken the pasties away and corrected the order but no. It was a real shame and left our family member upset with the way she was spoken to and dealt with. She visits this cafe once or twice a week and we came on her recommendation so it’s a shame that the staff let our...
