My partner and I were out in Portobello one Sunday morning a while ago around Easter time. After finishing what we came out there for we were walking around trying to find somewhere to get somethign for lunch. We saw a few people who had lined up outside this place and as someone was coming out after finishing their ourchase they could see we were contemplating whether to get in line or not. They encouraged getting in line, we said we'd never tried it before and they started encouraging us trying even more. We got it line and when it was our turn we ordered 2 of their "lambchetta" focaccias, one each, and also one of their porchetta ones to share and try out as both sounded absolutely incredible and we were getting quite hungry. When we were ordering, the person who served us even asked if we wanted a corner piece or a middle edge piece and I was so surprised at even being given the choice! I said corner piece and she ended up going out in the back to fetch a corner piece for us as there wasn't enough left in the front. She absolutely didn't have to do that, but we appreciate that she did. We got home and tried both of the focaccias and I can't lie, I've been thinking about them frequently ever since! I don't come out to Portobello often as it's quite a way away from where I live now and I don't drive, but I often consider figuring out what combination of busses I need to get to get out there because their food it truly incredible! If you're ever in the area and they have literally anything left for sale that day, definitely try it....

If you are reading this whilst sitting on the beach thinking about how you don’t want to cook dinner when you are back home, then don’t go further. This is the best Pasta in Edinburgh, if not Scotland. They have different sauces on rotation but always something for everyone. The Ragu, the different butters, the Carbonara.... No matter what you get, it will bring you to the brink of tears of happiness. The Tiramisu is incredibly creamy and the Focaccia super fluffy. The latter comes with a small tub of olive oil and balsamic that will make all other olive oil taste like nothing to you. The only slightly better pasta or Tiramisu was in Rome. But everything here is flavourful and simply heavenly. It can be on the pricey side but it is worth it. One of our favourite things to do is get pasta from Aemilias, salmon from the Fishmonger down the road and then have salmon pasta with fresh dill from our garden, whilst listening to Andrea Bocelli and dreaming...

I cannot state clearly enough how incredible this place is!! Have had the pleasure of popping in a few times now- the Ragu sauce they make is heavenly, so flavourful, rich and you can tell how much time and effort has went into it. The pasta is beautiful, really expertly made and my partner said the sandwich he tried (I can't remember if it was ox tongue or ox cheek?) was stunning. What wonderfully friendly passionate staff, so genuine and knowledgeable, you instantly feel welcomed even though it's quite a wee shop (can sometimes be a bit intimidating going into shops like that but have never felt rushed and the staff are always so helpful). If I lived in Edinburgh I would give up takeaways and just buy some gorgeous pasta and sauce instead-...

Hear me out. I'm Italian, born in Bologna but lived most of my life in Rome. My mum used to take the train every Christmas up to Bologna to buy 5kg of handmade tortellini. I was about 10 years old and didn't get it, until I tasted them. I stumbled upon this place by chance walking in Portobello and bought some tortellini with broth to try at home, curious to see how they were. After the first spoonfull I almost cried at my childhood memories rushing back. They are THAT good. Go there and try what they have to offer, you will not regret it. 10/10
