Having been to Bucks Bar in Glasgow many times before, we booked in advance the Edinburgh restaurant for my daughter's 18th birthday. When we arrived at 4pm we were told the table would be needed at 5.30pm, which is fair enough as it is a busy little place. The food was amazing and the portions very generous, absolutely no complaints there! The service though was a bit hit and miss. The gentleman who dealt with us initially was very attentive. However, by 5.10pm we were constantly hassled to leave by a female server, who told us we had to sit outside (on a typically, cold Scottish summer's day!) before she would bring us our cocktails, which we ordered for dessert. When I questioned why we needed to leave so early she said she needed to "clean the table" before the next booking arrived! This meant that from arrival to being ushered outside we had 70 minutes at our table! It was like eating your dinner at an Aldi checkout! When I came back in to pay my bill I noticed 4 empty tables around the restaurant! Very disappointing and spoilt what should have been a fabulous visit for a...

Great atmosphere inside, American diner style booths, neon bar signs, classic rock playing at decent volume. The staff were excellent, they all seemed to love their jobs and were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food - oh man, the food! I had 4 wings with Buck's sauce which were delicious. Then I had the Ninja Burger, with sweet potato fries as recommended by our server, Anna - good call! So the Ninja Burger is this: a whole chicken breast with Tonkatsu glaze, togarashi spice, Japanese kewpie mayo, onions and lettuce in a bun. The chicken hangs over the edge of the bun. It must be a good 10-12 inches long! My daughter had The Big Smoke Mac Waffle which was 2 big pieces of buttermilk fried chicken in smokey BBQ glaze with applewood mac ‘n’ cheese on a freshly pressed buttered waffle. She didn't manage to finish hers, but Anna made sure to give us a box to take the remainder away in. We had a milkshake each to go with our meal. They should warn you about the size of these things! All in all, I cannot recommend Buck's Bar...

Went to Bucks bar a couple of times when it first opened and it was good but their customer service has clearly slipped majorly since. Phoned up to make an order for collection - the girl on the phone was useless. Repeated my order 3 times to her then at the end she repeated the order and she had still got it wrong. Asked for a plain burger with just the sauce and cheese no salad. Was very clear with what we wanted on the phone. Got to the restaurant and double checked with the worker that my order would just have cheese and sauce he told me yes so I left with my food. Opened it up in the car and there was no cheese so went back in to get cheese added to the burger. Came back out to eat our meals and noticed there was lettuce on the burger - obviously not a big deal to most people but I don’t like lettuce so it’s not unreasonable to expect no lettuce on it when asking 4 times. They had obviously put it on by mistake and just scraped it off, complete piss take. Ended up taking it back in and getting a refund for the burger....

Worth the hype! Best chicken I've ever eaten, portion sizes really are as huge as they seem in photos! Also the biggest milkshakes I've ever had. We had the gingerbread and oreo and both were delicious with a generous amount of cream and sauce on top. Salt n chilli chips were banging, just like a Chinese takeaway! I had the red velvet cake for dessert, it was yummy but nothing special compared to the mains and drinks. The restaurant itself is small (I'd recommend booking) but personally, I loved the aesthetic. Pics of classic rock n roll artists plastered all over the walls. Classic rock music playing which was a huge plus for us! The atmosphere was great for a Friday night, and the restaurant was constantly busy and didn't look like it would be getting any quieter when we left about 8.30pm. Our waiter, Jamie, was really friendly and supr attentive! Will definitely be back.
