As someone who is legally medically exempt from wearing a face mask, I entered this store with my lanyard in plain sight only to be accosted by a member of staff demanding that I wear a mask. I politely said that I am medically exempt to which I got short shrift and told I must wear a mask. Not only was this incredibly rude but dismissive of my medical condition. This was done publicly with other customers listening and therefore added to my anxiety and giving a sense of victimisation. The lack of empathy and knowledge of medical exemption was incredibly poor. The store says they have systems in place where people like me can order in alternative ways but this is awfully excluding of people who have disabilities. I would expect more and will not be returning or...

I've visited multiple bookshops in Edinburgh and Armchair Books is my absolute favorite. It has a collection of books I could browse for hours – varying from modern literature to very old books.

There are literally isles after isles after isles of bookshelfs from the floor to the ceiling. However, this isn't what makes it the best bookstore. As Edinburgh is an UNESCO City of Literature, there are a lot of other magical bookstores as well. However, they vary from friendly to, dare I say, elitistic. Armchair books feels like home. The staff is are not just friendly, they feel like your friends.

If I ever become a ghost in Ediburgh haunting the city for all of eternity, I hope I can spend most of it haunting...

Armchair Bookstore in Edinburgh is a cozy haven for book lovers. Tucked away in the heart of the city, this independent bookstore offers a carefully curated selection of new and second-hand books across various genres.

We found this little gem of a book shop on Google maps. This shop is a absolute must if you're looking for something different to read. I prefer a small and quirky shop like this to browse in then a large high st shop. Although nothing quite prepared us for opening the door. It was like opening the wardrobe door to Nania, just magical. It's only a small shop so with covid they have a light system and clear instructions on the front door for entry and masks are compulsory with it being a confined space and lack of ventilation due to the age and layout of the building. So well worth the visit, we could have spent hours in there. I would certainly recommend Armchair Books to any book lover.

Armchair Books is an absolute treasure! This is not just a bookstore; it's an experience. The shop is a glorious labyrinth of books, stacked from floor to ceiling and overflowing into every nook and cranny. The wonderful, dusty scent of old paper and the cozy, cluttered atmosphere create a perfect haven for any bibliophile. You could easily lose hours in here, just wandering and discovering new titles or long-forgotten classics. The selection is incredibly diverse, and the charm of the place is only enhanced by the lovely, knowledgeable staff. Armchair Books embodies everything a great second-hand bookshop should be. A truly magical and unmissable spot in Edinburgh.
