This is to express my dissatisfaction with a recent visit to Costa. I ordered a hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream, but when I received my drink from the barista with the green fringe, it was missing the marshmallows. Noticing a tub of marshmallows right next to me, I decided to add a few myself. The barista stopped what she was doing, gave me an incredibly arrogant look, and said "You should've asked me." I politely told her that I had asked when I placed my order, but my request was clearly overlooked. Following this, she promptly moved the marshmallow tub away. I believe it's reasonable to expect a barista to ensure an order is correct, or at the very least, to offer to rectify the mistake without casting judgmental looks. I explained I didn't have a mask, didn't have a bike lock, and pointed out there was nobody else waiting, but they ignore me entirely, just repeating "I had to come in". Apparently they hate bikes and don't care there's a pandemic.
Costa says "Sorry Gavin, we have never allowed cyclists in the drive thru lane. Like many Drive-Thru retailers, Costa Coffee does not serve cyclists using the Drive-Thru lane or Drive-Thru window. Costa’s Drive-Thru lanes are designed for motor vehicles and are not designed operationally (e.g. the order speaker is only triggered by a motor vehicle pulling up), or from a safety point of view for those customers on a bicycle. Popped in yesterday afternoon. 1 person making drinks for the queue and the drive-through. 2 people cleaning the prep area and 1 wandering around re stocking . From the moment of service, I waited at least 10mins to receive 2 coffees. Looked around for a clean table and there wasn't one ! Trays and cups on every table and trays of used cups and half eaten food also along the window ledges where people had cleared their own table . Looked like some sort of management meeting going on at a small table . We walked out and sat outside !. I work in the same sort of business and would have been appalled and apologising at my customers getting that sort...
