Let me start with pros - I guess Nothing Now let me point out what my dining experience was. The food quality was okay as you'd expect from a KFC. Out of all the KFC's I have ever visited this has to top the worst service and ambience. I'll explain the ambience in a moment. Visiting Edinburgh we ended up to this restaurant. While my wife was standing in the queue to place the order I quickly went to the toilet. The toilet were beyond disgusting, there was urine all over the floor and the toilet seat. There was toilet stuck in the bowl and wasn't flushed properly. The other 2 urinals were exactly the same splattered with urine around and under. There was a notice stuck on the wall regarding Hourly Toilet Cleaning (Toilet Checks) schedule and if found dirty inform the staff. I somehow finished with the horror and came out. I informed the staff member (A girl) standing at the till taking the order. I described her about the toilet situation and seems like it was perfectly okay with her reaction. She gave me this unconvincing answer that someone will clean it up in a moment. The other guys who were standing there serving just 3 other customers in the store seemed bored of serving. No one asked if we needed any sauces. I had to go back and ask the second girl whose reaction looked like "Why bothering me". She still didn't ask how many we needed and gave 4 sachets like it was a personal favour. Out of all this I still didn't see anyone going out and cleaning the toilets. I had an absolutely horrendous experience at KFC Edinburgh - Hermiston Gait Retail Park while staying at the hotel next door. We were excited to try the festive stuffing stack, but they didn’t have it available, which was disappointing right from the start. The staff were blatantly rude and completely untrained, adding to the frustration.

After ordering at the self-serve kiosk, which didn’t even give us a receipt, we opted for table service. When our food finally arrived, the order was incorrect. We had ordered two meals—a chicken stack box and a rice box—but the rice box arrived without rice! My girlfriend was understandably upset, and I brought this issue to the manager’s attention.

What followed was appalling. The manager argued with me, smirked, and dismissed my concerns, claiming that I had ordered a “side” salad instead of a proper meal. This was absurd and clearly an attempt to brush off their mistake. Rather than escalating the situation, I ate my food in disbelief, as it was clear I couldn’t have an intelligent or professional conversation with this manager.

This branch is an embarrassment to the KFC brand. Standards need to be thoroughly re-implemented, and staff require urgent training on both customer service and basic competence. What truly stood out was the excellent customer service. The staff were attentive and ensured that my order was accurate and served promptly. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was to my satisfaction, which really enhanced my dining experience.

In addition to the delicious food and excellent service, the restaurant maintained a clean and comfortable environment, making it a perfect spot for a quick meal or a casual hangout.
