Jimmy's Express — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

I recently visited with some friends and was deeply disappointed by the experience we had. Throughout the night, my friends and I felt like we were being racially discriminated against by the staff.

One of my friends ordered a dish with rice that he had enjoyed previously at this restaurant with a friend from Hong Kong. However, this time, the dish came out missing an egg and with a very small serving of rice and small portion of meat. We noticed that the Asian couple sitting next to us ordered the exact same dish which came to their table 1 minute after we got our food and they had received a generous serving with an egg and more meat than my friend's dish. This was concerning and made us feel like we were being treated unfairly.

Furthermore, while the waiters were coming round and serving free fruit to all the diners, we were the only non-Asians in the restaurant at the time and the only table not to receive any. It seemed like the staff was selectively choosing who to serve, which left us feeling uncomfortable & awkward.

Lastly, we noticed that we were not being given the same level of service as the other diners. While others had a jug of water on their table, we had to work hard to get any staffs attention just to get a glass of water. This last point doesn't sound too bad however I truly felt the effort was being made to everyone by waiters barring our table.

The above discriminatory behavior we experienced was extremely disappointing and made us feel unwelcome. It's unacceptable that customers are treated differently based on their race, and we would not recommend dining at this restaurant to anyone.

Overall, the atmosphere and service were poor, and the quality of the food was not enough to make up for the negative experience we had. We hope that the restaurant takes steps to address and rectify their discriminatory behavior towards non Asian customers...

this is a real honest review and i will insert some pictures.

i went to this restaurant and honestly it was so beautiful i loved the vibe, the customer service was amazing, staff were friendly and catered to my ever need, the customer service is amazing compared to other restaurants. for example when i left they helped me put on my jacket and when we got drinks they poured it for us.

the problem i had with this restaurant was the prices, they were honestly ridiculous for the portion you got, i ordered a £20 platter and it was very small, not what i expected if i went to my local chinese i would have got way more, we also order salt and pepper chicken which i think was £17 and i asked if it came with anything such as rice and they said no you would have to order the rice with it which i thought was ridiculous for chicken, i personally think it should have been £10 no more. another problem i had was the food was not amazing for the price either, it just tasted okay it wasn’t enough for me to say the money was worth or that i would want to come back for more

overall when we had left we felt like we had just wasted money on the food that we could have got from my local chinese which would have been WAY cheaper and would have tasted way better. That is my honest review on this restaurant and i think that they could do really well if some few changes were made to their prices and flavour in food ( THE SALT AND PEPPER DISHES WERE...

I walked into this restaurant spontaneously with my friends, and I couldn't have been more impressed. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for an incredible dining experience.

The food was absolutely delicious—every bite bursting with flavor and prepared to perfection. The atmosphere was equally remarkable, striking the perfect balance between cozy and vibrant, making it a great place to unwind and enjoy good company.

However, what truly stood out was the exceptional customer service. It was, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever encountered. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and well taken care of, which made a lasting impression on me.

In fact, my first experience was so wonderful that I went back the very next day! And I know I’ll be returning again soon, as there’s still so much more on the menu that I’m excited to try. This restaurant is an absolute gem, and I can’t recommend it highly enough!
