McDonald's — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

5pm on an Easter weekend and it's lukewarm limp fries and a just about warm chicken legend. 10 minute wait for stuff that's been sitting on the shelf is not good. Bins overflowing so nowhere to clear tray to. Napkin holder empty. No sign of anyone clearing up. Poor. I went back yesterday and couldn't believe it had actually got worse. 21st December. It took more than 10 mins for our lukewarm food to come. There were lots of staff on, but they only had time for each other. The customers were obviously interrupting their jolly day. Every guest was met with a scowl. Every guest with more than 2 items ordered waited 10 minutes when nobody was being served all the staff disappeared to the back to carry on with the joviality of their social lives. When the meal came I wasn't given a tray dispute eating in. I was given 3 bags of food and told my drink were coming. I asked for a tray to be told there were none. I asked if they thought I was an octopus. He resigned himself to bringing my drinks over. I had to go back for them as he was chatting. When I got back to the table I discovered I'd been given 2 straws for 3 drinks. And just to top it all off the area for disposal of drinks etc was CRAWLING with flies. I've worked in catering for over 30 years and can tell you that this does not happen overnight. Especially in winter. This happens over days and weeks of neglecting to wash and clean an area. If this is happening out front where they know you can see it. Can you imagine what's going on behind the counter where you can't see what it's like, and they know you can't ? If I could find one redeeming thing I would be delighted to include it. But I can't. Absolutely disgraceful. Needs a management...

Awful staff!

After trying to cycle round the Costa Coffee drive thru on 22/11/20 and being told I was unable to be served because of 'health and safety', I thought I'd try and cycle round the McDonalds Drive Thru. After waiting for about 2 minutes I got to the ordering machine. I waited at the ordering machine for about 5 minutes and nobody responded to me. The car waiting behind me at ordering machine 1 decided to reverse back and drive into order machine 2, where he was served. I sat and waited for a couple of minutes more at ordering machine 1 and then after I still hadn't been spoken to at ordering machine 1 I cycled over to ordering machine 2. The minute I cycled over to ordering machine 2 the car waiting behind me at ordering machine 1 pulled up to the ordering machine and got served. I waited for 5 minutes to get served at ordering machine 2 and got no staff member trying to take my order. At this point I decided to exit the McDonalds Drive Thru and the minute I shifted my bike onto the pavement next to the McDonalds Drive Thru the guy waiting behind me at order machine 2 drove forward to the ordering machine and was immediately served. If you can't serve me if I'm on my bike, tell me, but DO NOT waste my time. The young female staff members at McDonalds Drive Thru are absolutely awful rude people. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL...

This was surprisingly quiet for being 5p.m. the queue moved pretty quickly, & the wait for our food was thankfully very short. The place was clean & tidy, and there was a security presence,.which I hadn't thought was needed. But some older teenagers were horsing around,.mostly.they were just a bit loud, physical horseplay started & the security was all over it. All in all, I was mostly impressed. If I had one niggle complaint, it would be that despite a small queue, and a short wait, All our food was Cold, not just a bit, but totally cold. I've worked this job myself, it takes skill & dedication to have Everything the customer bought All be equally cold at point of sale. Luckily burgers & fries are great for coming home drunk, that's when you appreciate microwaves(but still stand & mutter 'come on, come on,.hurry UP!' at them, despite them being as close to magic as possible IRL). Update: it's about 3weeks later now, visited again, still a lot of security, also plenty of schoolkids arriving just after school, queues move reasonably fast, staff are doing their jobs, and happily food comes at decent temperatures...if only they could do something about needing a second mortgage just to buy a meal...
