During our stay in Edinburgh, we spent an evening at Society Bar and Kitchen – and it was an all-around fantastic experience:

The restaurant doesn’t take reservations. While that might seem inconvenient at first, the warm atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff quickly make up for any waiting time. We were a group of four and ended up trying everything on the (admittedly small) dinner menu. But here, quality clearly takes priority over quantity.

Every single dish we tried was excellent. A special mention goes to the Angus steaks – absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and impressively affordable for the level of quality provided. Juicy, full of flavor, and accompanied by thoughtfully chosen sides – it was a highlight of the evening.

Another standout aspect was the service. The entire team was attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. We especially want to thank Kate, who made our visit extra special with her charming and professional manner. It’s clear that the staff here take real pride in what they do.

We were so impressed that we returned the next day for brunch – and once again, the food was just as delightful as it had been the night before. From fresh ingredients to great presentation and flavor, Society clearly maintains its high standards across the board.

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a relaxed yet high-quality dining experience in Edinburgh, Society Bar and Kitchen is a great choice. Uncomplicated, flavorful, and full of heart – we’d go back in...

Society Bar & Kitchen, Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh, Society Bar & Kitchen is a standout dining spot that perfectly blends location, service, and quality food. During my time in Edinburgh, I had the pleasure of dining here twice, and both visits were equally delightful.

Each morning began with a delicious breakfast paired with freshly squeezed orange juice. On my first visit, I opted for the French Toast, which was perfectly cooked, while my next visit saw me savoring their Eggs Benedict—both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. The restaurant itself is spacious and immaculately clean, providing a comfortable atmosphere despite being bustling with patrons.

The noise level was pleasant, allowing for easy conversation while enjoying the vibrant setting. One of the highlights of my experience was the seating near the windows, offering a fantastic view of Princes Street. It was the perfect spot for a bit of “people watching,” where I entertained myself by guessing whether passersby were tourists or locals—an enjoyable touch that added to the ambiance.

A special mention goes to our server, Virginija, whose friendly and attentive service made the experience even better. Society Bar & Kitchen is also conveniently located near St. James Shopping Center, making it an ideal stop during a day of exploring the city.

For anyone visiting Edinburgh, I highly recommend Society Bar & Kitchen for a delicious meal in a welcoming...

We live in Edinburgh and we have gone to Society three times this week - for brunch, for dinner and for a their wonderful wines which all have a rating of 4.0 or above on the Vivino app but they sell their wines for less than the usual higher prices at restaurants. I ordered The Chocolate Block as our wine and it was excellent and a staff favorite. Kate, our server, was superb! We ordered dinner Monday May 26th and we ordered steaks with Cuban chimichurri spicy sauce, mashed sweet potatoes and for dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding. The steak was superb. Mine was served medium rare which I love while my husband wanted his more well done. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was the BEST my husband and I had ever had at a restaurant - the sponge was so perfect and the toffee sauce with the vanilla ice cream topped off the evening. What really made our time at Society Edinburgh was the service we received from our server Kate. She was first class - friendly and efficient and she made us feel like we were at home with her lovely chat. She also gave us a complimentary salad which was also delicious! For brunch we had the Highlander and the Eggs Benedict, both superb. This is our new go to place for friends and family when they come into town. ...
