It was cold day not too cold were you won't go out but cold enough to bring a jacket. I was walking around Edinburgh think of my life I recently felt lost in life as my family abandoned me because job career. As i turn the corner to go up bread st I notice a rugged looking man scruffy unkept beard, droopy eyes with a yellow tint the text book example of someone to keep away from. I'm walking up the slight gradient looking down at my feat thinking of were everything went wrong I'm am immediately snapped out of the depressive trans as a cold rough hand rests it self on my shoulder. Everything slows down I feel the slight showering rain go down my face I'm about to turn around but stopped in fear as I feel a sharp cold object on my neck I'm paralysed in fear then I hear a slight voice in my ear " don't move or ill cut" his voice is raspy and rugged and I'm terrified I try to let out an assertive tone telling the man to let me go. its useless all I let out is stutters and whimpers this inrages the man he screams at me "TO SCARED TO TALK LITTLE BOY" the knife tightens around my neck. my eyes frantically look around the street to see if anybody notices nobody does due to the unfavourable weather I start to say goodbye to everything in my head I feel like this is the end I close my eyes and wait for the razer sharp knife to dig in and end me. BANG SMASH CRASH I jolt my eyes open I no longer feel the knife and I no longer feel the man's hand on my shoulder. I look to my right and I see the man with ceramic pieces and spaghetti on him I'm shaking and about to pass out until I hear a voice ask "are you okay" I turn to the right and see a girl who just ran from the chanter I see her name tags 'Amy' I look at her and say I'm alright she offers me inside as she phones the police for the now unconscious man. she sits me at a table and brings me a bowl of soup and sits down for her break she asking how I am now I need someone to vent to I have nobody so I just let everything out about my job about my family and about being held at knife point as all of this she's listening and gives me advise about life and as soon as she sits down she's away after her break before she goes I offer her a tip she decides and says it's just the right thing to do and just to donate it to some charity she leave to return to work. I look at my soup thinking about everything that's happend this soup is delicious this soup is kindness from others this soup is change and because of this experience and thanks to Amy I have changed my life around and am now a a charity organiser and have a family of my own I often think about all the good that would be lost if Amy didn't save my life. so thank you Amy food was also good and it looks...
Read moreGo on Thursday for reasonable priced beer!
Service was excellent tonight! Just chill but very positive and timely! Chips were nice and crisps and two good local beers!
Previous reply a few weeks back: Not 100% sure how to reply to your inquiry as your the first business to ask how to get back a star. Thanks for replying.
Why 4/5 overall? It’s really due to sometimes the services can be a bit lacking. But then other times the staff is very friendly and punctual. It fluctuates too much between visits.
The last time I went in: Ordered a pint of cider that was very flat. When I went back up the two folks tending just said that was the way it was supposed to be and left it at that. No offer to replace it, I even asked if they had any bubbly cider I could buy… got a no…. not that I’d want to waste it (just wasn’t a fan of it), but there was a good long awkward pause and I left when I realized they didn’t want to help or offer an alternative.
When things pickup on trivia night more bar tenders are needed. Remember a few months back where one person was on tap for like 15 folks in Que. I gave up
Overall like the drink offerings (price is good), place (though TVs are hard to see, but go in to socialize), and food (though only had chips or fries). Just needs...
Read moreI only come here to watch football on the many screens. The physical bar is good, many screens, which is nice. The male toilets are absolutely bogging, always reeking of pee. Tonight they were covered in a thick layer of masonry dust, yet I couldn't see where any building work had been done (see attached pics). The biggest disappointment is the beer, they actually have good options on tap, they just serve is soooooo bad. I mean really really bad. I bet the lines haven't been cleaned in here in years. The Stewarts beers are over £6 a pint 🥺. The people that brew that beer must be crestfallen with how its presented in here. Every beer is flat and so lacking in flavour, it's a travesty. You get back to your table, the head on your beer is gone within a minute. The remaining pints looks a sorry state. Such a shame to serve good beer like this. I need to find a new pub to watch football in. Its a shame because this place could be great, instead it's a glorified student pub, charging full...
