The Vennel Viewpoint Edinburgh Castle — Attraction in City of Edinburgh

One of the most popular photo spots in the capital of Scotland is The Vennel Edinburgh. This historic and secret alleyway has an old beaten staircase leading up from Grass Market.

The peak of the staircase provides a fabulous, photogenic view of Edinburgh Castle. It’s the perfect location for Instagram-friendly snaps and a unique angle of the Castle without the crowds too.

and it's easy to climb those 72 stairs (yes I counted), so no worries there.

It is a very popular spot to see a unique view of Edinburgh Castle. You can take a taxi to the top of the viewpoint, or walk up the long staircase. At the top, you'll have a nearly eye-level view of the castle with the staircase at the bottom.

Up the stairs a bit more for a better view very very busy

This is an iconic location to take an excellent picture of the Edinburgh castle. Now, unfortunately, the lighting is not as good for my picture as it is in many of these that are posted. Yet it was still nice. I would say that it’s actually not difficult to get a picture without having lots of people in the background. It was an exceptionally busy day on the Royal mile but I was able to get in and out without difficulty. This will be a very quick stop but highly recommended.
