Personally Insulted by manager of Manna
3 days ago I visit Manna house with my family.I live and work locally.
We Ordered 2 drinks and a cake. My husband and my son were waiting in the car.
Service took a bit long but I was patiently waiting at the table. Staff were very friendly and helpful. At the big long table They always have basket of fruit. There is no note that the fruit is just for display. Few months ago I asked if I can take any of the fruit or I need to pay and member of staff said that it is for customer's so I can freely take a piece of fruit.
So now when I was waiting I took small green lime. Pears looked over ripe.
Then suddenly came really angry manager and shouted at me on front of rest of the customer's:”did you take my fruit?”, the cafe fell silent as she shouted so loud.
I said that I did. She said with angry voice that fruit is not for taking. or if I want to have It I need to pay!!!
I tried to explain why I took it. But she didn't want to listen to me. I paid 50p for fruit and £8:50 for my 2 drinks & cake and left.
I have been In many places in the world but No one has treated me like that. So unprofessional. I know it's stressful to run a business and we all have bad days. But that kind of behaviour is not acceptable. Especially because South Queensferry is a beautiful little town, community spirit, many tourists and locals come here to relax. So no one deserves to be treated like that. But I give this as a warning to other potential customers in the future, along with...
Read moreEpic pastries. No understatement, the pastry chef at this place is a bonified pro! Everyone bam him up to go on bake off! And a sound guy to boot. We've been twice now, first time was for dessert after dinner in a nearby restaurant. We had a blueberry tart that was to die for! Recently went back and had savoury lunch before cakes. I had a triple stack Ruben sandwich. Holy shingles, it was incredible. But then, the cheese and tomato quiche arrived (warmed up, perfectly grill toasted) and it blew the sandwich out of the water. Sooo buttery and cheesey! We also has a triple salad: home made coleslaw with dill, German bacon and potatoe salad, lentil /roasted onion /Sundried tomatoe. All delicious and went great with the sandwich/quiche. Then on to the dessert, this time we knew how great they were so we filled our boots. Ate the French apricot and almond tart and the rasberry roulade in the cafe. Tart was delicate, crumbly, damn near perfect. Roulade was fresh, sweet but not claggy. Cannot fault either. Brought home the apple tart, BAKLAVA CHEESECAKE! and carrot cake. Looking forward to all three.
Long may the Manna house endure and it's an easy train journey & short walk from Edinburgh...
Read moreNOTHING VEGAN. The owner was indifferent when I complained and said I wouldn't be back, just shrugged his sholders. I was told i could eat soup or salad, nothing to go with a coffee! (Its a coffee shop!). It costs just £2-£3 pounds to make a batch a vegan baking! Even if you didnt sell much of it, its peanuts! I paid £7.55 just for a coke, a coffee, and a pre bought croissant! This is for that reason i went into business in Scotland to combat awful service like this. The Motto is: you're just a tourist your not coming back soon any way, we don't care. Awful, arrogant and indifferent. Very embarrassed as a Scot to think this is how we treat visitors to...
