I was so excited about this spot. It sounds like my favourite type of cocktail bar. What a drag. We walked in. Nice décor and music. The bar itself was half-full, and a few of the tables had people. Everyone seemed friendly enough -- except the bartender and the table next to us who shot us dirty looks the entire time. We obviously don't know these people at all, as we are tourists. We took a small table and looked around, figuring out how they do things. Most cocktail bars have table service but as the barman was ignoring us completely, we tried to gauge the proper way. The table near us had cocktail menus. As I was about to get up to ask, the barman yelled at us from a distance asking what we want. I said I don't know as I don't have a menu and stood up to grab one myself from the bar. He literally tossed one at me and turned back to what I assume were regulars sitting at the bar. He acted as if he wanted nothing to do with us and I can't understand why? I mean, is it because we're lesbians? Or one of us is Asian? Like, I genuinely can't figure it out when he was very friendly to everyone else, but rude to us as soon as we entered. We were nothing but polite despite everything. Between his attitude and the table glaring at us for no reason, we felt incredibly uncomfortable. In all honesty, I can't recall the name of the cocktail I ordered. It was fine, not a bad drink at all. But it was served by such a brusque and unfriendly man that it kinda soured the whole visit. And that's a shame. I love a well-made cocktail, but if the atmosphere or hospitality is off, it doesn't matter how good the drink is. We quickly finished and left. All the reviews talk about such good vibes and friendly people. We felt very unwelcome as if we were imposing on a local secret spot. Unfortunately, we had no desire to return another night.

What a find!! We had an hour to wait for an event locally and stumbled across this place. It was expectedly perfect. The spicy margs were hot, sour, and delicious. The food was just incredible. The flavours were well thought out and executed just right. The balance with everything was perfect. I'm a sucker for anything truffle so this was a must . I would definitely head back here. There was a dog in here, so I imagine it's dog friendly. There were a few different places to sit, a hideaway out the back which was cosy, low seating and intimate. There were bar stools around the bar, very social. And tables doted all around, it felt like it would be a great place for any kind of evening.

We visited the bar from a recommendation by a local friend. Well what a place and it absolutely made you feel at home the moment you stepped inside. Great selection of both spirits and beers, many local. The team we really engaged and clearly knew a lot of the locals which is always a good sign. Highly recommended as a place to check out. Having just been to the Lind and Lime Distillery and was heading for the Heron Restaurant, this was the ideal location. Apparently they also hire the bar out for private events the bar manager mentioned, which may well come in handy in this part of town. Thanks to Zach and the team for looking after us and making us feel at home.
