We entered and welcomed very warmly. We were seated promptly and it was clean and fresh. Drinks ordered and we gave our food order to. Not to busy for a sat brunch. Then only minutes later my food arrived. The young waitress placed my food and explained my partner's dish (eggs Benedict) was just coming. It was clear my full English had been under the lights for a while. The beans had that dull film on them. I picked at my breakfast and the 2nd dish arrived under 10 minutes later. The owner apologised for this just as I was walking up to pay the bill. I paid the chef at the till who thanked me for accepting the breakfast as it did him a massive favour!!! I liked the place and staff were good. The food was ok/good for the money but I think they made a mistake. I would have not served a breakfast that had been sitting so long. My girlfriends dish was basically poached eggs that take 3 mins. Waste the full English and make a new one that comes out at the same time. First impressions are so...
Read moreWhat was once the Art Cafe is now Café Med. And whilst it holds many of the old charms (the lovely quiet tucked away building with the small courtyard to pretend you're on a far away holiday), the changes are...all really good actually! There's - currently - two menu options. The 'regular' which is a little more along the English tea room lines of full cooked breakfast, soup, sandwiches. And the Mediterranean menu, where they've offered up dishes both hot and cold with a more...well Mediterranean taste to them. The staff are SUPER friendly and pleasant. Whilst the kitchen seem to be pretty affable to the odd request. There's a fair range of hot and cold drinks too, and the indoor seating is best described as 'companionable'; but all the more enjoyable for it.
A great place to pop in for a top up and relax whilst wandering...
Read moreVery good and plentiful home cooked food. Good chef who cooks properly from scratch and is knowledge about the cuisine. Good prices too. The terracotta dishes are served straight from the oven and again, very nicely cooked. The food is well spiced, but not hot and the salads and accompanying dips are all made fresh. The cafe is warm and cosy and hot drinks are good quality. Service is friendly and the staff helpful. Will return. The cafe does close quite early though. This cafe is great value for money, and much better than others on Trinity Street with eye watering prices and indifferent food and drink offerings! Well worth a visit, not pretentious or trading on being The Place to be Seen of the moment!!!! Thank you for some lovely,...
