H. Gunton — Restaurant in Colchester

We used to like this place. But then they campaigned against making crouch street bike and pedestrian friendly. With 1 in 20 deaths related to air pollution at Colchester hospital, this seems mighty selfish. Having lived in Colchester a long time, the main thing that stops me shopping on Crouch Street are the cars. They are dangerous to bikes and people in many ways. With a baby on the way it would be nice if local businesses had some foresight and thought bigger than a pointless, polluting car parking. Only 20 spaces anyway. Local businesses should know their customers better and if they attract people who want to drive to the city centre then they are missing all the local residents out in their marketing.

I can't see a way to reply...but using school kids as an excuse! They all shop in tesco express!! If you really cared about school kids you would campaign for 20mph on Maldon Road, extra zebra crossings on Lexden Road - where the schools are. The risk to kid is cars...get rid of them. Modernise...maybe Guntons could even have some outdoor seating if there were no...

As a long-time customer of Guntons when I lived in Colchester, I turned to them to supply an online order, after moving to a new area. What a disappointment..!!! Although my order was taken by them with the correct address (and invoiced as such) the address given to the courier company was incorrect - meaning the package was then delivered to the wrong place. This careless error has caused no end of problems for the courier company, the (incorrect) recipient and myself. Sorry Guntons, after spending many £000s in your shop, I expected an online service which I could rely on - sadly that has not proved to be the case. I'm truly disappointed by your carelessness. Amazing quality and service. I have visited and shopped at Gunton for many years. We got married last week and Gunton supplied the three tiers of cheese with a cheddar in a red waxed heart and a large pork pie and chicken pie. Chris spent time helping us choose the right cheeses and sizes. Excellent quality, looked beautiful and the service was reliable. The price was very reasonable. I have never been disappointed by the service or products I have bought from Guntons. The cheese counter and coffee selection is like a magnet for my husband. The shop interior is like stepping back in town. I hope this gem of a shop is here for many...
