We visited Roxi Mediterranean in Colchester for lunch, drawn to the place for its beautiful décor and stunning interior. Little did we know, the taste of the food would surprise us in its own way. I started with the creamy sautéed mushroom soup of the day, and for my main course, I chose the chicken doner kebab with wheat rice on the side. My friend went for the chicken shish. Oh, and how could I forget? I also ordered the fancy-looking still water. Boa of woa, lol! Now, for the ratings: My main course (chicken doner kebab): 3.5/5. It was flavourful, though the platter felt a bit too crowded. The presentation was appealing but not very practical almost as if it was designed to look fancy rather than functional. The portion was generous, enough to fill one person completely. Soup of the day: 3/5. It was surprisingly tasty despite its plain appearance. Don’t be fooled by the name or look of the dish! However, it could have been improved with a bit more parsley and maybe a hint of Parmesan. I like the wheat rice too. Salad was little too soggy too much oil in that. (Add pickles instead) • My friend’s chicken shish: 2/5. I wasn’t a fan. The chicken cubes were dry almost like boiled grilled chunks that lacked flavour. On the bright side, the naan was good.
Overall, while the portions were filling, the platters seemed too overdone like they were trying too hard to justify the price. The space on the plate was so cramped that it didn't even have little space to put my fork on it to rest. That said, the flavours were enjoyable, and I’d definitely go back again to explore more of their menu.
Final verdict: 3/5. Recommended for the taste, but with room for...
Read moreWe came here for breakfast given that the menu was extensive and had a little of everything. The food was absolutely lovely! Everything was cooked to perfection! We had a slight hiccup with one of the items but it was sorted really quickly and the team were extremely friendly! We will definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone 😊

Really disappointed with the welcome we received tonight. My husband and I have had breakfast here and wrote a Google review to express how we would recommend etc. We popped in at 5:50pm tonight with friends to see if we could get a quick table to eat - the restaurant had two tables in. The server advised they were fully booked, so we did mention that we would be looking to grab and go. She then asked a supervisor who looked like he couldn't be bothered to even speak to us who advised he could do it but would need the table back for 7:30 which we replied no problem! To which he then said food is taking around 20 mins + to come out, it felt like they couldn't be bothered to have us there so we then went to another independent restaurant which is a shame as we did love it here originally and do like to use the independents rather than the chains but with service like this we won't be back and cannot recommend. I must add we call work in hospitality and know how the booking...

Having returned from Rhodes a few days ago, we were stunned to find this new, incredible restaurant in the heart of Colchester, serving food that surpassed all the authentic dishes we had enjoyed on the island the week before.
I'm half Greek-Cypriot and I've therefore enjoyed my fair share of Greek and Mediterranean food over the years, so you can trust me when I say that when it comes to flavour, this bistro is unbeatable.
All three courses were exceptional, with the most friendly service I've had in any Colchester eatery. The environment creates a beautiful dining experience, including Greek music playing gently in the background. To be honest, we didn't want to leave.
If faultless food, superb service and an amazing atmosphere tick your boxes, Roxi Bistro should be at the top of your list.
Thanks for such a wonderful evening guys, it was a pleasure meeting you and dining in your gorgeous restaurant. We'll be back before...
