Found this Slug & Lettuce located down the end of the High Street; walking distance from the Town Railway Station. Both the outside and inside decor was the standard traditional uniformed Slug & Lettuce design. Having entered it soon became apparent that it could do with a spruce up, some TLC... Signs of ware and tear were clearly showing; seating fabric worn and ripped and the ladies toilets... well good luck if you find one with a working lock. The ladies toilets were slightly dirty with toilet roll on the floor instead of in a holder; would expect better from a Slug & Lettuce. * Beware when using the ladies, the stairs down are rather steep. So, food and drink, the Cocktails were spot on.. and the Feast with Friends Sharer was lovely, certainly worth the money, £13.99. Having not had 'shredded shawarma chicken' previously, we wasn't sure what to expect; I found it a little too spicy personally (although I am not a spice fan) therefore I would skip this topping next time. The staff.. there appeared to be a number of staff milling about. The place was not busy, therefore; surprised that tables were not tidied or cleaned, instead the staff just stood talking to each other, trying new cocktails and the vacated tables were left with plates/remains just sat there. Overall... lovely food and drink, worth a visit.

Me and my friends decided to eat at slugg and lettuce in Colchester today, thinking it would be a good idea, however we exited feeling incredibly dissatisfied. First of all we walked in, me and my friend had diet cokes each, to which there were suspicious white dried up stains on the glass (a picture is inserted) we then proceeded to drink out of the bottle given to us). Then, when our caeser salad arrived, the chicken was very gristly and jelly-like, it didn’t taste fresh, so we had to put it on a separate napkin away from our food, as we didn’t believe it would be edible. Overall, i would never recommend this to other people, it isn’t worth it.

Falafel that was a perfect room temperature..Check. lack of side plates... check... no cutlery.... Check. Asking for extra sauce three times....Check... Well so far so good x staff that look not too happy.....Check. fries not chips as an added side ...Check.... rest of the food just warm ....Check .. front of house blaming kitchen for things not being delivered to table.....Check. so all in met with the expectations one has with a known brand that charges five pounds a pint ? I recently had the pleasure of dining at Slug and Lettuce, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere that instantly made me feel welcome.

The interior is stylish and chic, with a vibrant yet cozy vibe that’s perfect for any occasion—whether you’re catching up with friends, enjoying a romantic dinner, or just grabbing a casual bite. The seating was comfortable, and the decor added a lovely touch to the overall ambiance.

The menu offers a wide variety of delicious options, catering to all tastes and dietary preferences. I was particularly impressed with their selection of cocktails—each one beautifully crafted and bursting with flavor. The food was equally delightful, with fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced flavors in every dish. I highly recommend trying their signature dishes; they were absolutely divine!

What truly sets Slug and Lettuce apart, though, is the impeccable service. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making our experience memorable. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensure that everything was to our liking, which made the evening even more enjoyable.

Overall, Slug and Lettuce exceeded all my expectations. It’s a fantastic spot for great food, amazing drinks, and outstanding service. I can’t wait to return and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch...

I brought my mum for a surprise mothers day bottomless brunch as advertised on their website, filled with 80s-00s music by female artists and Mother’s Day themed. In short, I was embarrassed that I had taken my mum here for this special day. I felt awful, the tables around us were dirty, the food was horrendous & sent back, the staff were moody and limited, tables around us had also had bad experiences with dirty glassware, food and service. We waited 15 minutes into our bottomless for a staff member to come over for our order - they had no idea what they were doing and almost put our order through wrong. Our bottle of Prosecco arrived with 2 glasses already taken from it.. My mum ordered crushed avocado and was not as described, I ordered eggs Benedict and the hollandaise was curdled. There was no checking on us or asking if would like more drinks on our BOTTOMLESS brunch. There was no music related to the theme that I had paid for, when I spoke to them about how bad and embarrassing this experience was they were short with me and said there was nothing they could do - it was the systems fault. I am so embarrassed that I hyped this up to my mum for her special day and have had to sit here for two hours with the experience becoming worse and worse. Just cannot believe this is a service they are providing customers with and describing it as a Mother’s Day treat - it was a Mother’s Day nightmare....
