What an absolute gem of a find! The location is perfect, right in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold with easy access to all the lovely shops, cafes, resturants and pubs.
Was surprised that such a cute little tea room could have such amazing B&B rooms above! The check in was seamless, we arrived early & had lunch at the tearoom after which we were kindly shown our room two hours earlier than official check in time. We chose poached eggs on toast. They were Cackleberry eggs which were so very tasty & had the most deep orange yokes I've ever seen!
This is an old building so the rooms are accessed by a fairly steep winding staircase however I am of senior age & walk with a stick but managed it slowly. Our room was delightful, not huge but had everything we could need & was comfortable. The ensuite bathroom however was very big, had a separate shower cubicle & a huge corner bath with an inset seat which made access much easier for me so it was a real luxury treat to enjoy a bath rather than a shower & the hot water was plentiful. Handwash, shower gel, shampoo & body moisturiser were all provided as well as a hairdryer. One touch that I loved, & I wish all hotels and B&Bs would provide, was a bottle of tap water & two glasses in our room.
Breakfast was tea, coffee, juice & a choice breakfast from the tearoom breakfast menu which included the usual full English type of breakfast, eggs on toast (various ways) & a lovely large yoghurt, fruit & granola bowl (which we chose) & was delicious. The tearoom has seating inside & also has seating in a lovely courtyard where we had lunch on our arrival.
We did know in advance, but other travellers to be aware that there is no car park immediately at the property but you can park free for 2 hours very close by between 8am - 6pm to drop your bags & check in & this parking is free between 6pm and 8am or unlimited free parking is also available a short walk away.

Read moreWe booked this place on the day after very little research because it was in a good location and looked nice.
HOTEL - Located in the main town centre, everything is walking distance, easy to navigate to everything. It only has a few rooms but is very nice and clean, good decor, located above the owners coffee and cake shop. Great set up. You can literally come down for tea / coffee and cakes then back upstairs (which were on the house for us). No complaints from us except our ceiling was low (my head nearly touched the roof) but our room was labelled “beware the hobbit” so the theme was good.
FOOD - Tea, coffee and cakes was very nice, a little pricey but nice. Ours was in the house so all good there. Breakfast was nice too, small choice but they mastered the small menu so whatever you get is worth it, and again it was included in the price of the hotel.
PARKING - They have no parking but you can park outside in the town (you have to pay i think) but they also have a 72 hour long stay parking in Tesco which is literally a 5 minute walk (if that). We stayed in Tesco as it was easier and cheaper. We parked outside and dropped our stuff off first and done the same to leave
THE OWNERS - They served us well and seemed very nice, very knowledgeable and advices us best places to go around the area. We sent need them for everything as the room was fine and no complaints etc, but there were great
THINGS TO NOTE - We drove past the hotel twice as we were looking for a hotel but it’s actually a coffee shop with rooms upstairs.
No fridge in our room (although we stayed for 1 night so was fine without one).
And low ceilings could be an issue if you are above 6 foot. (I am 6 foot and had to be careful)
I will also say though I have given 5 stars for the whole experience the hotel itself isn’t exactly a 5 star, I’d rate it 3-4 stars, but the whole atmosphere and inexperience is great....
Read moreWe stopped for coffee and cakes and ordered a Cream Tea, a slice of Carrot cake and a glass of iced latte. We were asked to pay in advance at the counter and the bill came at £19.05. We just paid without having any thoughts and sat at the table. While we were waiting for our cakes, we thought £19.05 was rather expensive for what we ordered, so we decided to ask the breakdown. Not before too long, our order came. The Cream Tea consist of one normal size scone and no choice of tea - only English breakfast or Filter coffee. The iced latte was fine. The normal size of Carrot cake with two raspberries on the plate. The breakdown was £8.95 for the Cream Tea which we knew, but we didn't know only one normal size scone, £3.85 for Iced latte (can't remember exact, but same as the hot latte I think), then the ordinary size Carrot cake which was £6.25! Shockingly expensive!!!!! (No wonder they don't display the price.) We actually commented it, but the staff didn't know what to answer. We think that there are a lot of tourists visiting Stow-on-the-Wold who are less familiar with the usual market price and they are taking advantage of it which is very wrong. The cake for that size should be around £4.00. We have been to many cafes in Stow and Cotswolds, but this is the most expensive piece of cake by some way. And also, we had to ask for the milk for the Breakfast tea which was surprising for a cafe that appears to pride itself on its Englishness. I can also add that the surroundings are ok but no means special. As locals, I'm sorry to say this place is a total rip off and we can...
